Interview: Insomniacs

Insomniacs blend the speed and angst of 90’s skate punk with melodic and modern pop punk structures. With catchy choruses, fast riffs and driving beats throughout they are a band to definitely check out in 2019.
They released their debut album ‘You Won’t Feel a Thing’ in March 2019 on the back of two 4 track demo’s/e.p’s and three singles. They have lots of shows coming up over the remainder of the year including their biggest show to date at Boardmasters Festival in Newquay on 11th August 2019 at 10pm on ‘The Cove’ stage. Also playing at the festival are artists such as Wu Tang Clan, Florence and the Machine, Razorlight, Lewis Capaldi, The Wombats, Goldie Lookin Chain and many many more. Check out latest album You Won’t Feel a Thing below!

We caught up with the band as they talked about their latest album and more!

So how has the release of your album You Won’t Feel a Thing gone down so far?

Everyone that has listened to the album have given us nothing but fantastic feedback stating that our music reminds them of the Tony Hawks Pro Skater games/soundtracks and for people growing up listening to pop punk and skate punk from the 90’s and early 00’s it has that nostalgic feel.

What’s your favourite track from this album?

Favourite track to play live is probably ‘good intentions’ or expectations as they are the most energetic. Favourite tracks from the album vary between the members but I’d say the top 3 are ‘Fix Yourself,’ am I too far gone?’! &’ all my friends are stupid’

And you’ve released even more music Knock Me Out, how has that initially gone down so far?

Knock me out is an old song we released as a single a few years back but since releasing the album fans have asked us to make our demo’s and singles available to stream via all major streaming platforms which we have done.

Can you tell us something about the album no one else knows?

It was originally going to be an EP, which turned into a LP, which then turned into an album. The album artwork was taken on the disused railway tracks in Tipton, West Midlands just around the corner from the black Country museum (how stupid we must have looked carrying an old mattress, a tin of spray paint and a bunch of roses down the street)

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Such a hard question to be honest. Our main influences are alkaline trio and Green day. To be able to Co write a song with either of these bands would just be incredible as we have listened to them growing up and have idoled ourselves around them.

Will you be touring at all this year?

We will be hopefully booking a tour in 2020 but have too many shows booked throughout the remainder of this year to be able to book a successful tour.

Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time?l

The dream is to keep on writing, recording and releasing music to our fans and to play as many live shows as possible and continue to grow and hopefully one day be supporting big bands on tours and going on our own headline tours and playing to larger audiences and larger venues and festivals.
