Live Review: Fireball Fuelling The Fire Tour at O2 Academy, Bristol

Fireball’s fuelling the fire tour in 2018  headlined Flogging Molly with supports from The Bronx, Face to Face and support band, Lost in stereo.

A sold out show at the O2 Academy in Bristol, meant the room was packed and atmosphere would be at its highest.

Lost in stereo took to the stage first. All the way from Glasgow, Lost in stereo warmed up the crowd with their pop punktastic tunes. Giving us a  brilliant performance with lots of energy. This band is one to check out for in 2019, especially if you like bands such as Neck Deep, All Time Low and Blink 182.

With the crowd roaring from the last band, the atmosphere was electrifying and sparked off with a bang as Face To Face entered the stage.

These lads from Southern California gave us the American zing that the night was waiting for. Bouncing around the stage and totally engaging with the audience, they gave such a fun and enthusiastic performance. Signed to Fat Wreck Chords, the bands punk rock 90s vibes gave me some nostalgic memories, from the early 2000’s listening to bands such as Blink 182, Green day and Sum 41. Definitely a go to band for summer afternoon shenanigans.

The next band The Bronx from Los Angeles, absolutely demolished the stage. The amount of presence each and every one of the band members have was insane. It was a pleasure to watch and I feel happy I got to experience this band live. In all honesty, I hadn’t heard of the band before the night. The genre was different to the heavy metal shows that I usually go to but I was even more impressed with The Bronx. They had the fun energetic personality that made every person in that audience want to join in. The o2 academy in Bristol was ALIVE when they came on. We had countless mosh pits and stage divers, to the point where lead singer Matt Caughthran jumped into the crowd and got lifted up in the air by fans whilst singing, it was amazing to be a part of. Definitely check this band out live.

Finally to finish the evening was headline act, Flogging Molly. Signed to Vanguard Records/Concord music group, all the way from Los Angeles they played a variety of new and old songs with a folky Celtic pop punk vibe. Everyone in that room moved, to the point I was being lifted off the floor as the collective were jumping around.

The bands atmosphere made you feel you had just walked into an Irish pub full of life happiness and love of music on Saint Patricks Day. It warmed my heart to be evolved in the crowd and to see so many smiling faces around me looking up to the makers of this sunshine. Flogging Molly have been huge in the film industry where certain songs are in renowned films such as P. S I love you and Leap Year. Mosh pits galore and crowd surfers in an already packed out venue made this the most amazing gig I’ve seen in 2018. Putting Celtic folk punk-rock back on the map and showing people you can be any age or gender to produce such supreme sound. Each member gave it their all and ended the night perfectly.

Overall a fantastic night watching some brilliant bands with amazing talent. I give this night a 9/10 and highly recommended you check out each band and see for yourself.
