The vision started by experimenting for two years to create high energy music that was released as The 121 Project. Formed in 2003, the Dallas, Texas based artist, Todd Last, worked to create music that arranges songs with a combination of techno and trance that are solid and unique. Inspired by industrial groups like Front 242 and Front Line Assembly, electronic groups like The Crystal Method and Astral Projection, as well as the Dallas club scene, Sonic Radiation pulls from those styles to give the listener something for the ear, the mind and the dance floor. We caught up with Sonic Radiation as he talked about new music and more!

So how has the release of your Helix EP gone down so far?

Hello! Thank you so much for the interview. The release of Helix EP has gone well. My fans and electronic DJ’s seem to like it. I’m very thankful for the positive responses. Hopefully, my newest release is an interesting step forward in my quest for great electronic music. I’m excited to share it with the universe!

What is your favoruite track from the release?

I think the tracks on Helix EP play well together and have a nice evolution. Helix starts off the journey with good intensity. I enjoy trying to create a sonic character with a unique energy and getting it sounding the best I can then sharing it with others throught out the galaxy. I think all my songs try to grab you by the ear. I hope each one takes you on a different journey through time and space. Each track really reflects my skill level and life at the time. I hope over time that will be interesting.

Are you working on new music at the moment?

Yes, I have a new track under construction. It’s pushing and punishing my system to it’s limits! I’m working hard on it. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy “Helix EP” in your time and space!

If you could work with any artist or band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Fun question… I’d love to get Mozart, Enya, Front 242 and R2-D2 on a space station together and see what we come up with.

What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?

I really enjoy movies and music. I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and sci-fi movies. Also, great bands like Rush, Depeche Mode and many others really capture my attention. I think my style kind of happens by making a sound that takes the best of what I like and enjoy in what I see and hear as a fan.

Will you be touring at all this year?

Sonic Radiation hasn’t been taken on the road… Maybe someday, in the future. I’ve truly loved music all my life and I love being a part of the world of electronic music. Trying to make the best song I can is always my interest and task at hand.

What’s the live music scene like in Texas at the moment?

Actually, I haven’t reached out to my local area like I should have. Unfortunately, Dallas isn’t really an electronic music hotspot. Unfortunately, I think the Dallas EDM scene is so underground that no one knows about it. If anyone knows where the door is, please let me know. I’d love to be a part of it!

Thank you so much for the interview. I hope everyone can explore their journey through time and space and find many wonderful things to enjoy. And I hope Sonic Radiation music is one of them.
