Interview: Maddison talk latest release

Hailing from Chepstow in South Wales, Maddison have already received support from Planet Rock and Def Leppard’s Joe Elliot on their new release Lose My Mind. The boys are moving from strength to strength building off the success of their 2017 debut album which garnered them 90,000 streams on Spotify and over 50,000 Facebook followers. Taking inspiration from bands such as Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age, Maddison combine the unmatched energy of raw angst and huge guitars to produce catchy hooks and anthemic choruses.

Lose My Mind is a head bopping classic rock anthem that will re-imagine your teenage years through rose-tinted glasses. Check it out below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their latest single and more!

So how has the release of Lose My Mind been so far?

So far, the response has been really positive. Seeing the engagement online has been great. We’ve had lots of nice words said, and seen screenshots from people’s Recovery pre-orders unlocking. It’s awesome.

So the track was released over Mental Health Awareness Week, how much does this mean to you guys?

It means a lot to be able to create awareness for the many people out there who suffer with mental health issues. Being able to release our latest video and EP at this time is fantastic. Especially as some of our music is grounded fully in the struggles with mental health, and the steps to overcome it, or at least live a good, happy life with it.

How pumped are you for your release of Recovery?

We’re really pumped. Couldn’t be happier with how it came out! I may show some bias here but I think all of the songs have their own character and hooks, making each track different from the next, while all being a cohesive whole.

What’s your favourite track from this EP?

Personally, Sinking Like A Stone, as that was the song that kickstarted our evolved sound. But I love them all!

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

That would have to be Foo Fighters. They’re arguably the biggest rock band in the world, and one of the most amazing, so to work with them would be an absolute dream.

Will you be touring at all this year?

Hopefully! We’re in the process of booking shows currently, with a view to a more solid schedule in the near future.

What was the first ever gig you went to?

The first gig I ever went to watch was a battle of the bands at my high school! I think I was about 14. I thought it was really cool! I remember my mum dropped me to the car park and gave me £2. £1 to get in and £1 for a drink, haha!
