Spring King performed at The Loft, Southampton, on Monday night (5th February 2018) as it was a truly great taster of what the UK has to offer in the world of indie rock and punk.

The first of three bands on the night was the brilliant Calva Louise and trio created a lot of buzz from their set. Fronted by female vocalist and guitarist Jess, the band had a lot of class about them and they certainly knew what they were doing on stage with amazing stage presence.

With it being an intimate venue, the band managed to really connect with their fans and Jess showed off her ferocious voice while singing the catchy indie rock songs. The band played the likes of Eleanor, Getting Close, The Heat, Tug of War  and finished on the brilliant I’m Gonna Do Well which you can check out below from the night!

The London based band is completed by Alizon and Ben, and this trio and have certainly got plenty of potential and will no doubt headline a venue like this in the near future. Having briefly spoken to the band beforehand while I was waiting for an interview, I can honestly say I was really pleased how they welcomed me to the green room and made me feel at home.

Next up was the brilliant Leeds based Fizzy Blood, and we managed to get an interview with up Paul, Benji, Jake, Ciaran & Tim as we talked about the tour, latest music and more!

Fizzy Blood had a punk rock feel to them from the start but also had indie elements to them. They really got the crowd going from the start and had a real mixture of genres this their music.

The band played the title song of their latest EP Summer of Luv which really got the crowd engaged with them. They also played fan favourite ADHD which had more of a classic feel to it and you can check out the song live on the night below!

Fizzy Blood carried on with Haunted and CFO as well as Healing Isn’t Free which was sung for Spring King. Their last track on the night was January Sun which was a perfect way to warm up Spring King. The band played a number of new songs on the night which fans will hear and certainly be in for a treat in the coming months.

Last up was the brilliant Spring King who seems to never disappoint and there was even a little mosh pit before their set even started. The band came on to The Hives’ Come On! which seemed fitting and certainly got the crowd pumped for the set. Spring King started with Detroit which was a great start to the set before their played their new song Ready for War and asked if fans were looking forward to their new album in 2018.

This was a taster of their new album and had a heavier side to them. The band wished Happy Birthday to fan which was a nice touch. Spring followed with It’s So Dark before they played a slower song Demons City. The likes of a new song No More, Tell Me If You Like To (title song of their debut album) and Take Me Away all followed.

Better Man then followed which was a really upbeat song and another new song Animal then followed. Spring King then followed up this with Who Are You? which was simply great and sounded just like it sounds on CD. We managed to catch this song live on the night, which you can check out below.

Singer/drummer Tarek Musa and the band were in fine form as they continued the set with Let’s Ride, They’re Coming After You and Mumma which were all solid additions to the set.

The band finished on Rectifier which was a perfect way to end the night which included some of the best alternative rock acts the country has to offer.
