Interview: Valensole talk upcoming EP

In a time where alternative music has largely lost its raw edge and originality, punk rock, unfortunately, doesn’t have the bite it once had. Ready to chomp down on the scene, however, Valensole’s candid music and high-energy live performances are set to give punk rock a new lease on life. Reared by an eclectic mix of rock music, with a particular affection for Nirvana, Green Day, Sum 41, and early Foo Fighters, the band have taken their cues from past masters and have forged their own imprint and style. Now the band are set to release their upcoming EP Make Pace on 9th February! Check out the impressive front cover of the EP Make Pace below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about the upcoming EP and more!

How pumped are you for the release of Make Pace?

Extremely! We’ve worked on these songs for a while and we’re itching to get them out.
I’m a budding producer and I’m a lot happier with the sound of it (it was recorded in a garage and my home studio room)!

What is your favourite track from the release?

Personally, my favourite is Giving Up. Its full on, and awesome to play live.

It’s about those days you have stuck in some shitty job, where you just wanna tell everyone to fuck off.

Would you say this is different to your previous releases?

I think its similar but better. I want to improve with every release and this is a good progression. Its still punk rock though!

What inspired you to do the artwork for the EP?

Our friend Stephen Fry is a mega talented artist (yeah that’s his real name) and we gave him a bunch of ideas and let his imagination run wild.
We’re all really impressed with it!

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Hmm.. I’d love to work with Deryck Whibley on a new Sum 41 album.

His home studio looks awesome and the videos he’s posted of the Underclass Hero production are really interesting. Make some stadium punk bangers.
I’d also love to watch King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard write a song, that would be on another level.

Will you be touring in 2018 at all?

We are hoping to book up as many shows as possible! Nick is currently finishing his masters degree, so once that’s done we’re going to sort out a few tours.

If you could play at any venue or festival in the world, where would it be why?

Id love to have played Warped Tour, sadly thats ending but the dream is to go to America and if i had to pick a venue – The Roxy.

What was the first gig you all ever attended?

The first proper gig was Green Day at the CIA in Cardiff when I was 15, it was awesome. I even sprayed my hair green.
