Album Review: Felix Hagan and the Family – Attention Seeker

Finally. It is here. The much anticipated debut album from Felix Hagan and the Family has made its way into our ear drums – By Jordan Cox.

After catching the attention of many with the release of ‘Kiss the Misfits’, an EP that gave us a taste of what Felix Hagan and the Family are all about, a full album has been expected and anticipated. The 2 year void was filled with, the band supporting Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls on the English stretch of their Positive Songs tour, Felix himself standing in for Matt Nasir (1⁄4 of the sleeping souls) while his wife was giving birth and then finally the release of Delirium Tremendous ( one of two songs from attention seeker released prior to the album itself). With their signature glitter punk show-tune style, FH&TF have truly outdone themselves with this powerful, enticing and quite frankly fabulous album. Including songs such as ‘Attention Seeker’ and ‘Delirium Tremendous’, this album was set for brilliance. Low and behold it did not disappoint. With punchy punk ballad ‘Delirium Tremendous’, FH&TH deliver fast paced palpitations of rich aggressive sound paired with Hagan’s Broadway-worthy power vocals make for a fantastically powerful number. With the juxtaposition from the punk rock ‘Delirium Tremendous’ to the electronic direction of ‘Be A Freak’ FH&TH have shown their range as artists with such gravitas that I cannot compare them to anyone else breaking into the scene at present.

Unlike many albums I have listened to, Attention Seeker did not feel like a chore, this album left me itching for more like the junkies Felix tells us to hug after getting off with a few Misfits, this leads me to the only down side of this masterpiece, it left me happy and amazed yet saddened that I have to wait more than 5 minutes for the next installment of glitter covered fun.

Felix Hagan and the Family – Attention Seeker 10/10
