Last October Minerva Superduty  released their second album Gorod Zero and on December 21st an official video for the same track.

MNRV got together in late 2011 in order to escape crushing daily routine.
They started playing loud, yet voiceless music, then entered the studio to record material which took form in their self-titled debut album released in March 2014.The band’s been making music & performing ever since, fusing their influences, experimenting and adding vocals to their line-up.
On October 17, 2016 their second full-length Gorod Zero was released – recorded in Athens, late 2015 and mastered by Alan Douches at WWSM.
A week after the band did a 10 day tour in South East Europe, playing in 7 different countries. Check out the video of Gorod Zero below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about their latest release, favourite song, proudest moment and more!

So how has the release of Gorod Zero gone down with fans?

So far the feedback we have been getting is quite positive, both from fans and the press.Adding vocals came as a surprise to some, as we have been playing voiceless music since day one. Nonetheless, we’d say it has granted us a pathway to a larger audience. We think we managed to take two steps forward musically while keeping the identity and characteristics of our sound.

What is your favourite song from the release?

Each one of us has a different personal favorite so it’s really hard to pick one. Perhaps “First as Tragedy” and “Gorod Zero” are the ones who more accurately describe the album’s spirit.

Tell us a bit about the album

We had all the songs written in a little less than a year, soon after releasing our first album. The songwriting process revealed a different nature of our music – one more aggressive and dark. Having performed the songs live made us think that words could blend right into the picture. Then our best friend George, guitarist of Ruined Families, stepped in and handled the vocal and lyric duties – and nailed it.We worked again with Kostas Ragiadakos, recording and mixing at Unreal Studioz, Athens, GR. Vocals were captured by Nick Hackas at Twin Picks studios. Alan Douches mastered the album at West West Side Music, NYC. Overall we are extremely satisfied with the outcome.

How has the music video for Gorod Zero gone down?

We wanted the visual interpretation of our music and lyrics to portray the darkness, absurdity and paranoia of the lives of people today. Thanos Mitsios did an exceptional work in capturing our vision for “Gorod Zero” and we’d like to extend our gratitude.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Chelsea Wolfe because it would push us to our limits, doing things we never imagined before and Baklavaa because they are probably the best band in the world right now.

What has been your proudest moment to date?

When we first got together, starting hanging out and playing as a band, we kind of set two goals, one being to press our music in vinyl and second, togo on a tour abroad. Having achieved that is surely our proudest moment as a whole.

What has been your funniest moment on tour?

We really can’t recall which might be the funniest but, hands down, the happiest moment was crossing the borders from Croatia to Hungary after being stuck for more than 2 hours, due to car paper trouble, thinking that that was the (short) end of the tour.

What is the music scene like in Greece?

The music scene here has flourished in the last years. People in general still go to shows and buy merch, thus supporting the scene. We strongly support diy and bands who don’t follow the well-walked path and try to forge their own, both musically and artistically – and we would like to see more to do the same.

How was your tour in 7 different countries?

It was a great experience, going for the first time to play abroad (being in places that some of our favorite bands have performed), meeting new people from all around, seeing new places (although most of them through the van window), pushing our limits a little further every day. Luckily everything went down as planned and there were no accidents or setbacks. We feel more conscious and willing about what we do after this tour. Last but not least, kudos to Kalpa for organizing the whole thing and making it happen, we love you people!
