Incandenza “Changing the Narrative”

Incandenza “Changing the Narrative”

Independent
Release: 28 April 2026

Incendenza‘s uncompromising new album “Changing the Narrative” captures our current zeitgeist and pulls back the veil with a rebel’s spirit of fearlessness and adventure. At once both dystopian, cautionary, tech-noir and strangely life-affirming, Incandenza has created a singular rock signhature sound with powerful themes of self-reliance in a chaotic, relentless world. Covering a wide and complex range of hypnotic, progressive, ambient, atmospheric and stoner rock, this release is sure to appeal to fans of Muse, Karnivool, Radiohead, Rishloo, Chevelle and Porcupine Tree.

Incandenza is a conceptual rock project of guitarist/vocals/multi instrumentalist Samuel Wilson blending alternative rock with philosophical and cinematic influences.

The debut album “Changing the Narrative” explores themes of identity, perception and modern media culture. An exploration of how can individuals maintain a sense of self in an increasingly simulated reality. It’s the hero’s journey in a corporatocracy nightmare. Hope out of despair, and the interconnectedness of the cosmos. A backdrop of rain reflecting neon juxtaposed with monochromatic architectural symmetry.

“”Changing the Narrative” is about living versions of ourselves we didn’t choose. Just like the Matrix film, we have to choose to awaken. There is a raw, analog quality where we wanted to keep takes and performances instead of smoothing out perceived imperfections.

There is a theme of hyperreality where media, simulations, and copies blend with reality until the two become indistinguishable; with no original. Somewhere, in some time or realm, someone is listening, observing and taking notes.

The music has a cinematic element to it. Whether it is heavy and raw, or atmospheric and psychadelic we tried to encapsulate a world with dream logic. An odyssey where the listener should feel questioned as much as the artist. The listener should feel questioned as much as the artist. As if they could put themselves in the seat of the protagonist.

We were going for a live feel and intensity. While there is a tight structure and architecture, the music has a lot of texture and swagger where I wanted the listener to feel right up close and embedded in the songs.

How to find hope in a fallen world.

The music has a heightened and hopeful operatic quality while keeping its indie cynicism and questioning of the stories we are told about ourselves. I don’t like it when music or art is overly sentimental. This album deals with questions of fate and finding your destiny and evolving through inherited identities. Your own ascension in a fixed system.

The album inspires listeners to question inherited narratives and imagine new ones of their own.

Much of the album was recorded and tracked at Wilson’s home studio “Aurora” as well as tracking 4 songs at Studio Nomade with producers Nathan Sexton and Ben Roberts. Drumming on 2 tracks (Out of Despair and Maybe, I) by session legend Jerry Roe. It leans heavily on musical performances and inspired takes. Featuring his collection of guitars, tube amps, keyboards, mic pres and analog gear.
