Single Review: Nat Dempsey – Last Call

For anyone looking for a gritty new fancy these upcoming months, 19-year-old singer-songwriter, Nat Dempsey could be just the person.

Having featured on BBC Radio 6 Music, Indie Rocks Uk and BBC introducing Cumbria, it is no secret that he knows his way around a catchy riff of two. Nat is on a roll, bring his socially conscious indie rock to hundreds of online (and live when possible) listeners.

Having released his latest single, ‘Last Call’, there is no doubting why he has had so much support. There is an untameable passion and clear identity that really rocks his music, setting it far apart from ever being a ‘just another indie singer’ stereotype.

‘Last Call’ practically screams with this inner passion, from jagged chords to the crashing chug of drums, it is like the satisfaction of finding the last missing piece of a jigsaw. It is a bouncy, addictive thing that no matter what you do or listen to, you won’t get it out of your head…you have been warned!

The single is inflated with this rocking indie sensibility which works so brilliantly with Nat’s slight vocal rasp that everything seems to tie in effortlessly. Even the guitar solo is so tainted with this sonic personality that you won’t be forgetting this single anytime soon.

This being said, it’s near impossible to fault any of his others either.  The craftsmanship, guitar work, vocals, drums, lyrics – you name it. There is a flare and charisma that flows through his music that will have you whipping out shazam in seconds and spamming your playlists with every track.

Despite the current dire COVID situation, Nat is still performing and has just released his ‘Sat by the Ocean’ Queens of the Stone age cover alongside performing a couple of live ‘socially distanced’ gigs.

So make sure you give Nat Dempsey’s massive earworm of a single, ‘Last Call’,  a listen on Spotify here!
