The Irrepressibles have released the first track Submission, taken from the highly anticipated new album expected for release this year. Submission is the first new music from The Irrepressibles in 4 years following their critically acclaimed second album ‘Nude’ and collaborations with ionalee and Røyksopp.
‘‘Submission’ discusses how when we fall in love we have to submit to it and when this ends it destroys us much like the French saying ‘la petite mort’ or ‘little death’.’ (Jamie Irrepressible)
The powerful and minimal electronic soundtrack of Submission combines the two meanings of ‘la petite mort’ in a deeply felt love between two men. The poignant track features the voice of US-born gay alt-country artist Jon Campbell in duet with Jamie Irrepressible.
The compelling video is directed by Cypriot film maker Savvas Stavrou. It illustrates an intense battle between two men. We see a visceral exploration of desire and acceptance of love, and an outward expression of the inner violence and vulnerability at the tearing apart of the two lovers.
