EP Review: Hell’s Gazelles – Take Your Medicine

Oxford’s Hell’s Gazelles self-released E.P ‘Take Your Medicine’ proves once more that “classic” Heavy Metal is making a welcome, long overdue Rocking return. Opening cut ‘Give Me Something’ has some high pitched vocals that would make canine ears bleed and a foot down motoring backbone that is somewhere between Priest/Dio/Roses with an Almighty sidecar. The lyrics could do with a bit of polish. The use of the C-word is always a tough act to pull off as is motherf*cker when sung by a British voice. Next up is the boot stomping single ‘Stone Cold’ which musically bullies you into headbanging, air guitar and fake drumming submission.

‘Out Of Time’ has a multi-purpose Bizkit riff while the vocals will nostalgically take those old enough to remember, back to the days where the frontman ruled the Rock world. Title track ‘Take Your Medicine’ powers along before final track ‘She Devil’ summons up ghosts of maidens past and wraps up this refreshingly British Steel release.
