Live Review: Our Hollow, Our Home at Southampton’s Joiners

High Rise

On a night where Southampton’s Joiners experienced some of the country’s finest metal bands, Our Hollow, Our Home proved once again why they are one of the most exciting metalcore bands on the scene at the moment. As it was the band’s hometown show on the tour, they brought couple of friends to play alongside them.

Fellow South Coast band Dissonants started the mayhem as they performed tracks off their upcoming EP Vultures including the brilliant Follow. These guys were great and despite them being first on, the Southampton crowd were well into their stride from the first minute. These guys have plenty of potential and you can just tell that they will follow in Our Hollow, Our Homes footsteps very shortly.

Up next were the brilliant High Rise from Kingston, and these boys just keep getting more and more confident performing up on stage. Lead singer Jovic Staddon kicked off the band’s set in style with Burdens as the sweaty venue really started to get packed out. High Rise then played the likes of UNITY and Hands United as Jovic asked the crowd to get down and up again for a mosh pit which a lot took part in. High Rise had three more tracks to play which were the brilliant Vultures, L.I.F.E and Reborn. The band also filmed Reborn as part of their upcoming music video. Overall it was a great set which provided amazing stage presence. This is certainly only the beginning for this band.

InVisions followed High Rise as Jovic spoke to fans in-between sets. The York band played their new single Parasite as well as tracks from their self-released debut album Never Nothing which fans were more familiar with. These guys really knew how to get a crowd going as they played the likes of Soul Seeker as they started plenty of mosh pits with their set. Ben Ville took some time to speak to fans after their set and as I would of thought, everyone absolutely loved it.

Create To Inspire were chosen as main support and it took a while for the Essex band to arrive at the venue. Despite this and not much preparation, the band provided a great set as main support. With the likes of Adjust and Blue within their locker, it was always going to be an amazing selection of songs. Lead singer Sean Midson had amazing stage presence and totally blew my mind throughout the set with powerful vocals. It was a perfect way to set up Our Hollow, Our Home.

With much anticipation, Southampton’s Our Hollow, Our Home certainly lived up to their expectations with lead singer Connor Hallisey providing killer vocals from the start. The band started with I Am The Eulogy and quickly followed with Loneshark and Hartsick and it didn’t take long before the crowd got into an epic mosh pit. Tobias Young and Josh White really killed it on the guitar whereas bassist Bobby Brooks and drummer Nick Taliadoros all put in 110% in their hometown show. Rest Assured and Heisenberg followed as it was starting to get really hot in the sold-out Joiners. Our Hollow, Our Home also played their killers songs Web Weaver and Worms Wood as well as Karmadillo. They also played their well-known cover of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and finished on For What It’s Worth. Overall it was a fantastic night of raw talent with every single band on the night having the potential to be massive!
