Top 5 acts at Bestival

Bestival took place last weekend at Dorset’s Lulworth Estate as it was a fun-filled event for everyone. Having checked out the Old Mout Kiwi Camp with some great bands playing classics such as Bohemian Rhapsody.to liven up the atmosphere until 2am. The hip hip area was actually really entertaining also throughout the weekend.

If you were into Tattoos then there was a special event taking place throughout the weekend called Sailor Jerry Living Ink at Jerry’s Parlour experience. Paying homage to Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins, guests entered the Sailor Jerry World via the new Living Ink experience, a state of the art virtual tattoo parlour. Visitors enjoyed inbuilt projections of Sailor Jerry’s iconic flash artwork mapped onto their arms. For those looking for something a little more permanent, there were transfer tattoos of some of Sailor Jerry’s most iconic flash artwork available.

With all this going on and more, there was were five favourite musical acts that really to a shine to me over the weekend.

1) Rag ‘N’ Bone Man (Castle Stage, Saturday)

One of the breakthrough artists of 2016, Rory Graham, aka Rag’n’Bone Man showed why he is one of the biggest artists in today’s music industry. With songs such as Human and Skin it was always going to be a great show and thousands of fans sung along to his catchy tracks.

2)  A Tribe Called Quest  (Castle Stage, Saturday)

With the band basically ruling the nineties, soundtracking the decade with a number of album of era defining hip hop, including Beats, Rhymes and Life, it was always going to be a great set for everyone. With thousands attending the main stage, they really showed why they were one of the best acts of the weekend.

3) Dizzee Rascal (Castle Stage, Saturday)

Bursting onto the scene at the forefront of the urban music revolution of the early 2000’s, Dizzee Rascal showed why he’s still one of the best rappers this country has seen. He played the likes of Holiday and Bonkers that really got the crowd going and Dizzee was a rightful headliner.

4) Too Many T’s (Castle Stage, Sunday)

With their set being cut short because of the bad weather, Too Many T’s was supposed to be playing their debut album South City in full however despite this, the duo still put on a great show. They still attracted a lot of people to their set and the likes of God Save The T’s.

5) Twin Atlantic (The Box, Sunday)

Scots rockers Twin Atlantic have built up a strong reputation both locally and nationally with songs possessed with powerful complexity and nuance. They were great and they ended on Heart and Soul as well as playing the beautiful sounding Free.  Twin Atlantic are one of those bands that just know how to get a festival crowd going and they are without a doubt only going to get bigger.
