Live Review: Fat Lip Fest

Dead!

Fat Lip Fest recently took place at Bristol’s Bierkeller and The Lanes over three stages of some of the best up and coming and well-established bands in the country. With the Bierkeller having a more pop-punk theme to it, The Lanes certainly had its heavy element with The Adnams Stage. With there being only less than one minute separating the two venues, The Lanes also had an inspiring Acoustic stage.

The action kicked off at the Adnams Stage with As Flames Rise getting things going with All Ears Avow and Continents all following. Pop-punk bands High Down and Home Wrecked were also getting the Fireball Stage off to a flier. We managed to catch Foes set at the Adnams Stage as they played some of their heavy songs from their debut album  The Summit Lies Skyward and more as the venue really started to have that indoor festival feeling.

Dead! then took to the stage not long after at The Fireball Stage, fresh from a number of high profile festivals and new single Up For Ran$om. These guys proved why they are one of the biggest up and coming bands in the UK alternative music scene right now. With the venue packed with Dead! fans, it is no wonder why these guys have played the likes of Nova Rock in Austria among many more festivals this summer.

WSTR

Liverpool pop punks WSTR then took to the Fireball Stage and they came out to the film Trainspotting theme music Underworld’s Born Slippy.  As they played songs from their debut album Red, Green or Inbetween such as Lonely Smiles, lead singer Sammy Clifford and the band also played songs from their debut EP SKRWD such as Fair Weather and Graveyard Yard. Once again it was amazing to WSTR at this festival and these guys don’t look like stopping! WSTR also played an acoustic set to finish off the night and Sammy and guitarist Danny Swift both put on one hell of an intimate show. Check out them playing Lonely Smiles below!

I managed to check out Greywind who put on a magical and strong performance at the acoustic stage as the brother and sister duo attracted plenty of fans and played songs such as Car Spin and Circle as well as others from their debut album Afterthoughts. Pop Punk band Roam also killed their set at the Fireball Stage playing their classic Hopeless Case and more. It was great watching these guys and grabbing a slice of pizza which I think is exactly the atmosphere Fat Lip Fest managed to create.

Greywind

Devil Sold His Soul also put on an amazing performance at the Adnams stage before Young Guns finished off the night back on the Fireball Stage. It was a perfect way to end an amazing day of alternative music and the Afterparty at The Lanes really kicked ass!
