Interview: Shaded talk upcoming EP

Surrey born pop punk quartet Shaded who are set to release their forthcoming EP The Better Man In Me, on the 1st September 2017. The EP displays an array of tracks that revolve around and portray the idea of missing a relationship, whether it be intimate or a friendship, and the feeling of regret that comes with that. Shaded are something slightly different to your run of the mill pop punk. Think of the guitar riffs and vocal melodies of a State Champs track, throw in some WSTR style drums and the pop vibes of a 5 Seconds Of Summer single, and you’ve got yourself the new Shaded EP in a nutshell. Check out Better With You below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about the upcoming EP, latest single and more!

So how pumped are you for the release of ‘The Better Man In Me’?

We’re buzzing to finally be able to share it with everyone! We’ve been sitting on it for quite a while so its a huge relief that we can actually say its finished and ready for people ears.

What is your favourite track from this release?

It varies for everyone in the band I guess! But I’d have to say ‘Deal My Hand’. It’s definitely the most fun to play live!
Tell us something about the EP no one knows?
The entire thing was self produced. We spent a crazy amount of time in Callum’s bedroom… literally night and day working on it! But we loved every second of it and couldn’t be happier with what we’ve come out with.
Tell us something about the EP no one knows?
So far so good! We were fairly sceptical as ‘Better With You’ is definitely our most ‘out there’ song! But yeah, people seem to like it quite a lot which is great!
If you could work with any band on new music, who would it be and why?
There’s a few, but writing with Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low would be unreal.
How pumped are you for Burned Out Festival in Bournemouth?
It’s gunna be a good show! It’s our first time playing Bournemouth so we’re really looking forward to it. We’re definitely the lightest band on the bill (which could go either way, haha!) but it will be a good time, I’m sure!
What’s the pop punk scene like in Surrey at the moment?
We go to a music uni so the general music scene is good, but alternative music doesn’t really have much of a place around here at the moment. There’s been some great bands come out of Surrey though!
What do you guys get up to in your spare time?
We’re a pretty dull bunch. Callum and I write and produce a lot of the time, Barney goes to the gym and Dan loves a good ol’ game of cricket. As a group however… Love Island and Beer go very well together.
