Interview: Hightower talk upcoming release

Hightower is a Punk Rock band from Paris, France, composed of Attila (vocals), Alexis (bass), Benjamin (guitar), Jérémie (guitar) and Romain (drums).

Their debut album Sure. Fine. Whatever., released in 2014, was recorded and produced by Steve Evetts (Real Friends, Sick of It All, Lifetime, Kid Dynamite…). After a huge success with debut album, the French punk rockers have announced the release of their next album Club Dragon for September 2017, through KROD Records, FAR CHANNEL Records & JOE COOL Records. This album was once again produced by Steve Evetts.

As a preview, the band released a music video for single The Party, taken from their upcoming record.

We managed catch up the band as they talk about the upcoming album and more!

How pumped are you for the release of Club Dragon later this year?

We’re all very excited about the release of “Club Dragon”, it’s been a while now since we wrote and recorded it. Can’t wait to hold it in my hands.

Can you tell us much about the release?

“Club Dragon” will be out next September through KROD Records (Gatefold LP, CD), FAR CHANNEL Records (CD) and JOE COOL Records (Tape). There are going to be 3 release parties in September in our hometowns Paris, Nevers and Budapest.

How well has The Party gone so far?

It’s the first song we put out since Attila (vocal) joined the band and we’ve got pretty good feedback since the video came out, we’re happy.

Could you tell us anything about this single?

Funny thing is that we were not supposed to record the song: 10 days before we hit the studiowe decided that we should. Instrumental was here but we had to write lyrics and melody in a rush, it was intense and little bit stressful.

What’s the alternative scene like in Paris?

I’m mostly involved in the hardcore scene here with putting small shows and doing tapes with my record label (PPB Records) but it looks like the alt. scene is doing very well with bands such as Paerish, The Videos and our buddies from Lodges. Our good friends from MindxAwake and Wolfpack are about to release their new albums too; the scene is alive, lots of creativity and energy.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

I think the best we could think of would be a guest vocal on one song but that’s not too much Hightower’s style. I think we prefer doing our own business all alone.
I’m pretty sure Benjamin our guitar player would have said Foals !

What was your first ever gig that you attended as a kid?

I guess my father took me to see Toto playing his favorite tunes back in the days. Don’t get me wrong, I love Toto!

What was your favorite moment when recording your latest video?

The live part for sure. We brought many friends to my parent’s house;it was a lot of fun.
