Album Review: In Dynamics – Everything I See

The people of the lovely city of Brighton clearly know something about rock music that the rest of us are missing. For a long time now the city has been a clear highlight of the British rock scene with bands such as Architects, Black Peaks and Royal Blood showing that they have dominated almost all genres of rock music in Britain recently. Looking to add themselves to that list are newcomers In Dynamics with the release of this, their debut album following two successful EP’s which have been praised across all major publications and radio stations as well as tours supporting bands such as Arcane Roots, with whom In Dynamics share a drummer.

The first track, This Is The Start Of Nothing, starts off with a massive sing along before the alt rock attack comes in and we immediately find out that the strength of this band is in the power of the vocals as the chorus is incredibly emotionally driven and powerful, leaving a lasting impression on the listener. Huge choruses are necessary for alt rock music to stand out nowadays with the genre becoming incredibly saturated and In Dynamics have these in abundance.

This is no more evident than on the previously released single, A String Of Losses. This song presents a Lonely The Brave styled uplifting bend on their sound with the humungous chorus seemingly coming out of nowhere and elevating the song to another level. With songs this big, it is only a matter of time before In Dynamics find themselves in much bigger places.

The music does have the potential to be a bit more energetic also as sixth track, Another Minute, shows a bit more energy in the songwriting with moments even sounding a bit like Reckless styled You Me At Six, while Existence Precedes Essence brings back the more common alt rock sound that is established throughout the record. Both these songs again highlight the strength and importance of vocalist Beau Boulden who is the real MVP on this record.

The record ends with the title track of the record and represents a huge way to finish the record with a slower intro combined with sing alongs and atmosphere before kicking in after a build that lasts more than a minute. Combining more emotional vocal delivery with a good and steady build provides an excellent way to end this album, an album which shows a band with a lot of potential for the future.

Overall, this album is very good, especially for their debut full length outing. The strength of it is definitely in the vocal delivery but the music is also well written, all that is missing is a little variation in the songs, once they establish this it is only a matter of time before In Dynamics seperate themselves from the bunch and grow as a band in terms of songwriting and fanbase.

8/10 – Good album with potential for the future

Highlight – A String Of Losses
