My Half Caught Heart.

My friend Matthew Awbery is a skilful lyricist and musician. Having worked with him for several years now on other projects, I always look forward to where he is next on his journey.
After a tumultuous 2025 he is more grounded and firmer in his belief that music is his business and his being.
Today I find him with Half Court a band borne out of extremely challenging circumstances, at a time when you lose everything and absolutely nothing makes sense. That darkness and the depths that you plummet, in this case, have resulted in this beautiful outing.

The song ‘Shiver’ sees the group trying to navigate this corrupt and cruel world. It is a song about realisation and how that effects the decisions you make and the steps you take. We ponder our mortality and what shape that will take. We know that we all get older and that in itself brings struggles and complications. We all want that hand to hold.

The band hope to create tunes that “incorporate ethereal lo-fi acoustic influences with the classic sound of 90’s Shoegaze/ Post Rock” says Matthew. The ability to immerse your entirety in these 4.20 minutes is a well earned escape from whatever your daily grind is.

Half Court is Matthew Awbery- guitar/vocals, Dean Brown- bass, Thomas McKay -drums and Jason Whittaker – guitar/vocals and with a few tour dates already announced you can experience the tears as words yourself.

March 6th – The Delemere Dog – Winsford
March 28th – The Salty Dog – Northwich
April 2nd – The Delemere Dog – Winsford
April 3rd – The Underground – Stoke – on -Trent
April 4th Leeds and April 5th London to be confirmed.

In times of trouble, try and think of the glass half full.
