I Dug A Hole In The Yard For You.

‘I was blind to the truth of our existence’

Watching the video for ‘Surviving The Vermin’ I find myself looking at a room where The Purge would fit in quite comfortably. It is basic, with what looks like white tarpaulin or sheets pinned to the background, ideal set up, I’d say. The fuzzy, indistinct camerawork adds to the disquiet as Unburier proceed to feed you feet first into the woodchipper.
They come up from the south of England to pillage what is left of your unceremoniously decommissioned fuselage, with Ben Champion on vocals/guitar, Blake Hibberd -guitar/vocals, Stan Mitchell – bass and newcomer Kim Hughes on drums.
Hark back to summer 2022, when they arrived with ‘Twisted Existence’ they looked around, slammed a few heads into the wall, then found a place to sit in impactful cogitation. They got up in 2024, moved the furniture around and ‘Nebulous’ burnt a hole in our collective abdomen, disintegrating our insides.
We now bring it all up to speed with the latest burnt offering ‘As Time Awaits’ wherein lies a beast that you dare not awaken.
We roll around madly in the ‘Continuum’ that is our life, beset with woes that show no sign of dissipating. The composition is taut yet malleable enough for the riffs to flow smoothly. This is achieved when artists understand and can execute music as it should be delivered.
At the centre of this three track EP you will find ‘Abyssal Uncertainty’ and the workmanship here is proficient, exciting and not to be taken lightly.
Frets, drums and vocals that are meticulously aligned and refined like an afternoon tea, pass me a frenzied French Fancy, or perhaps you’d care for a deranged doughnut or an insane iced bun.

Whatever your inclination, time waits for no one when tea is served. Enjoy!
