Interview: Stella Lain

Stella Lain is a country singer-songwriter from Norfolk, UK. She has been writing songs and playing guitar from an early age (as young as 10). Stella has always been drawn to storytelling, and music has been her way of expressing herself through either performing or songwriting. She values creating songs that leave a lasting impression through being relatable, building confidence, or making people want to dance and sing along. Stella released her EP ‘Stella’ on Friday and we managed to catch up with the country singer was as she talked about her latest release and more!

When talking about the EP, Stella said:

‘It’s just a small collection of some of the songs that I’ve written over the years and it explores what I’ve selected as an introduction to me as an artist. I like to call it a little introduction or welcome into my pink glittery world of country music. And I don’t know if you can tell what my favorite colour is.’

When asked about being referred as ‘The Country Barbie Country Girl’, Stella continued:

‘She’s an icon and it’s really funny. Barbie was kind of an inspiration for everything with me. So I am the country Barbie I suppose. She’s my icon. so with the EP as well with Stella it explores different sort of subg genres and different sides of country music. So, in it there’s some songs that are a bit more like acoustic country, a little bit more, traditional. there’s more pop country in there as well. And there is also some rock country. So, it explores, yeah, lots of, different sort of different bits of country music that I write in, the styles that I write, and there’s more than that as well.’

Stella recently performed an acoustic set on the back of a vintage pickup truck at Country Calling UK, supported by UK Country Hats, and is preparing to participate in many more events to come.
