Abbey Pierce talks new single ‘Down to Earth’!

When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?

I wanted to write a song honoring my partner and how love can be a force of gravity that keeps you grounded.

How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?

If you’re familiar at all with 90’s country – Lee Ann Womack, Jo Dee Messina – there’s major sonic similarities with how 90’s country love songs were produced.

Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?

It was written from a vulnerable place that can be difficult to externalize. I wanted to write a song about an enduring love that penetrates through all kinds of emotions – good and bad. That kind of love is worth keeping two feet on the ground for and definitely worth having a song about.

How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?

I’d say so, considering it’s part of a body of work – the EP. Each of the songs have a story of their own, but share an essence that connects them because they’re my story and my experiences.

What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?

With it having such a deep meaning, I had to get it right. So there was some pressure there that you can’t change anything once it’s been recorded and released. Someone once said “an artist’s work is never finished” and they were so right!

Why should a reader check out the track?

It blends modern country and 90’s country and the result is just a beautiful love song that has a lot of meaning and has the potential to bring hope to a lot of people who may be struggling with a condition similar to anxiety.

What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?

Even though the idea behind the song comes from a personal place, I believe that it will resonate with many listeners who are either living with anxiety or love someone with it. I think it conveys a message that a condition like anxiety doesn’t make you unlovable and that it’s possible to navigate intimate relationships when you find a partner that gets you.
