When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?
My latest single is effectively the latest music video from my EP “a northern perspective” that came out back in December! I wrote the track “future sight” a very long time ago, around six years or so, but it’s been a solid part of my setlists for a good while as it’s just a lovely track to perform.
How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?
I coin my music as ‘folk-grunge’, a combination of singer-songwriters and folkier acts with a bit of the 90’s alternative sounds, with a bit of distortion and some guitar solos thrown in there for good measure. A lot of my influence comes from acts like Kurt Vile, Phoebe Bridgers, Stephen Malkmus!
Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?
It’s really about moving to a big city, away from the calmness of a smaller town! There’s even a pokemon reference in the name of it, taken from the final line of the track.
How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?
It’s a lot more produced, my production techniques have come a long way since the previous EP, having worked on a bunch more releases and that. I love how the whole EP sounds and I think I’ve managed to get a real nice sound behind it all!
What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?
I actually found this track real easy to put together, when I was writing it the words flowed super well and then when recording I knew exactly how I wanted it to sound!

A bit of a taste of something different, it’s a story from my life that I think a fair few people can relate to!
What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?
I filmed the music video not only here in Manchester, but went back to Leyland to get the contrast I wanted to convey in the track – it’s done super well and I’m real happy with it!
