When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?
Illusions of Grandeur new single “Midnight” is the 1st from the new album “The Siren Rises Pt1 the Raven Witch”. Midnight shows a different side of IOG’s sound incorporating darker tones and imagery to open the 3rd album of The Siren Saga, a three-part story which tells the story of The Siren from her fall from Mt Olympus to her Rise taking revenge on those that have wronged her.
How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?
Midnight is a dark pop song with double means taking for The Siren Saga and just basically from life.
Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?
Well, the meaning can be interpreted in a lot of ways, “Human beings, Lying and cheating” being the basic chorus lyric, it highlights maybe our own downfalls that will eventually take us to our “Midnight”
How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?
The style of our music has evolved, and you can hear the differences in the two albums currently in release. The first album is melodic with a lot of soaring guitar solos, and lyrically there are a lot of songs that follow the storyline more directly. The second album is heavier as the story takes us into the underworld. We also service each song rather than try to stick to a certain genre or sound. We all have many different influences and vocally many different deliveries as well.
What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?
Midnight actually came together a lot faster than previous tracks we have created. The basic demoing ended up being the “bed track” of the whole single and was cut very quickly
Why should a reader check out the track?
I would say check out the track because it offs a lot of varied musical influences from Metal to hard rock and pop, there is something in there we feel for everyone.
What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?
Midnight is a step along the journey both musically and story wise as this album leads “The Siren” and her band into the underworld to battle hades, as told in the opening track “Crossing Over” the third part “The Siren Rises” is currently in production and the band hopes to release and tour on it in 2024-2025 Illusions of Grandeur combining multiple influences and music styles. Midnight has a darker tone and layers of sound.
