Ingrid Michaelson shares new festive single ‘This Christmas’

An artist with an endearing love for celebrating the festive season, Ingrid Michaelson today gets the celebrations underway as she shares the original new song ‘This Christmas’, which was written for the new Hallmark Channel Original Movie ‘A Heidelberg Holiday’, which will premiere on Movies 24 (available on Sky and Virgin Media) on November 26th. The song arrives ahead of her special Ingrid Michaelson Trio Christmas Show, which comes to London’s Union Chapel on December 1st.

‘This Christmas’ sees Ingrid commemorating the season with all the warmth of an open log fire. Twinkling like the fairy lights on a tree, the song is a gently beguiling midwinter daydream in which Ingrid’s sweet, soft voice provides a picture postcard of the big day. The song is wrapped in lyrics which capture the simple beauty of the season as Ingrid sings, “It’s family and friends, beginning and ends… Let’s make this Christmas the best we’ve ever seen.” ‘This Christmas’ was written by Ingrid and was produced by Ariza. Ingrid says, “I was asked to write a song that runs under the final scene in an upcoming Christmas Hallmark movie. I love all things Christmas so I jumped at the chance. I watched the movie and wrote this song in a few inspired minutes after the movie ended. I wanted to encapsulate the feeling of being present and grateful in the moment, while also celebrating the most wonderful time of the year!”

The track is released alongside a lyric video, which features videos and photos submitted by fans. It compiles a selection of touching, poignant and amusing clips of special Christmas memories with family and friends.

‘A Heidelberg Holiday’ focuses on Heidi, who receives the dream opportunity to sell her beautiful, handmade glass ornaments at the prestigious Heidelberg Christmas Market in Germany. While there, she meets Lukas, a local artisan who helps her reconnect with her lost heritage.

‘This Christmas’ is set to be part of the upcoming Ingrid Michaelson Trio Christmas Show. The show will feature the trio’s sweet vocal harmonies supported by guitar, keys and ukulele as they bring a joyous Christmas party to one of London’s most beautifully atmospheric venues. Ingrid’s previous Christmas special shows have mixed all-time seasonal classics with selections from her ‘Songs For The Season’ album and the ‘Snowfall’ EP plus select fan favourites and a few surprises too.

Ingrid adds, “London is one of my favourite places to be around Christmas, and Union Chapel is one of my favourite venues to play ever.  I cannot wait to return!”

Tickets for the show are available HERE. Limited VIP tickets add a host of exclusive benefits including access to the trio’s soundcheck, a Q&A and a group photo with Ingrid, an exclusive merch package, plus early access to both the venue and the merch stand.

Ingrid will then play a second Christmas show with her 17th Annual Holiday Hop at the Webster Hall in New York on December 15th. The Holiday Hop will be livestreamed globally via Veeps, and available for a 48 hour replay. You can now purchase livestream tickets to tune in live on December 15th or to watch the replay HERE.

As 2023 draws to a close, Ingrid is also looking ahead to a landmark year in 2024. She has written the music and the lyrics for a new Broadway adaptation of the classic romantic drama ‘The Notebook’. It will play at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, with previews beginning on February 10th ahead of its opening night on March 14th. Tickets are available HERE.

‘The Notebook’ tells the story of Allie and Noah, both from different worlds, who share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart. Ingrid recently shared a taste of what to expect from the musical in the shape of the song ‘If This Is Love’. It captures the moment in which Allie first realises (with more than a little self-doubt) that she’s falling for Noah.

Both ‘This Christmas’ and ‘The Notebook’ extend Ingrid’s ability to take her music in inspiring, multifaceted directions. Highlights of her career to date include two Billboard Top 5 albums, interpreting the ‘Stranger Things’ narratives into music with the ‘Stranger Songs’ set, and composing/executive producing music for the AppleTV+/Jim Henson Company Emmy-nominated pre-school series ‘Slumberkins’.
