Interview: Michael Webster

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

My latest EP “a northern perspective” has gone super well, I’ve had such great feedback from people on it – I’m super proud of it, every song is exactly how I want it to sound and I put a load of work into it!

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

Hahah, well. There’s a lyric in “unburnt” that is a reference to a Kendrick Lamar lyric, and the backing vocals on that lyric are sung in a similar style to his delivery and cadence on his line! Maybe you could have figured it out, but it’s pretty niche.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

I think it’d have to be Better Oblivion Community Centre! Their songwriting ability is unreal and I can imagine they’re just proper down to earth.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

I’ve not actually got all that much lined up for myself, but there’s a few for a band I’m in “Anyone’s Ghost” and we’re in the process of recording an album for it all!

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

Probably the Band on the Wall gig. It’s gonna be lovely, we’ve got fantastic supports and it’s a massive venue with such great history behind it.

What else can we expect from you in 2023?

I’m putting on LOADS of gigs, got a bunch of production work lined up and I’m even hoping to have more of my own music out in the second half of the year!
