So my friends, we are emerging out of lockdown gradually with some gigs having already taken place, but by and large the music industry is still flagging in the mayhem. It’s been almost a year since OR last spoke to Gary Moat of Burnt Out Wreck, here we take the opportunity to poke around a bit more and see how he has been keeping.

How are you, family and of course your wonderful pets?

All good here thanks just getting on with whatever life throws at us I guess.

It has been almost a year since our last interview and with restrictions still in place how has that been for you and the band?

Well obviously we are all just dying to get out playing again and rehearsing. We have not got together since Feb 2020 it’s been crazy for the whole world but things seem to be on the up.

Some shows are happening now, I went to see King Creature at a socially distanced gig, admittedly I was very nervous, how do you feel about going back on the road?

Looking forward to it hoping it all works out ok but we need to rehearse as I said it’s been a while.

Songwriting is an essential element for any artist, how is that progressing, will we see any new music or are you hoping to tour the ‘This Is Hell’ album  properly first?

Both really, we will be recording our 3rd album this year with our new guitarist Richard Upson on lead guitar so we can’t wait to hear how that will turn out. And then out playing live 2022 with as you say This Is Hell, hopefully it will all go according to plan.

You have a new booking agent with RAM, what has that brought to the Burnt Out Wreck team?

It’s a new step forwards yes looking to get out into Europe and beyond.

How did the Lymestone Brewery collaboration transpire and what products are available to the public? Where do we place an order

Lymestone  got in touch and asked if we would be into having a ale and a ale spirit with our name on them so yes you can get them direct from lymestonebrewery.net, and also from Gwatkin cider a lovely cider with our name on it from gwatkincider.co.uk just go online and direct to both companies.

If you could be a fly on the wall in any situation, what situation would that be?

The end of the world.

Writers have a magpie mind, they are always collecting ideas’ the author Ian Rankin said, and do you think this is true?

It seems to be the way of it yes I have carried so much stuff around for years it’s great to free up some space now and then, lol.

What question do you dread being asked?

Could you sign my cock for me?

What do you think is the way forward for bands as we move out of lockdown, as so much damage has been done already to the industry?

I honestly have no idea, we shall keep on putting out new material and if we get asked to play some festivals then hopefully all being well we will, you just have to try and find your own way forward these days. Thanks for the support, come and see us if you can, and stay safe out there people, Gary.
