Lockdown Interview: VAYA

When did you first realise that COVID-19 was going to have an effect on your band?

Hi Original Rock:). To be honest I was more concerned about the new turn that Humanity is taking ( or not) than only being focus on music. I felt it in February and started to move things around.

Initially, what was that whole situation like, and how did your band overcome/react to it?

We were and still are on process for the second opus post production. So for this part it did not affected that much our way. It even help to open new doors on it by the way. And I just postponed the next short movies to do with Yumi Sonoda for this album in Japan normally for next year.

How has your creative process changed as a band over the last couple of months?

I am feeling going deeper meeting my soul because we have time.

What’s been the hardest part about writing/doing music this way?

Maybe because we are only two, we did not have problem on « doing » music because of the COVID-19. We are flexible and we adapted some part of the process. So I feel actually harder to build this new opus than « fight » against the COIVD 19:D I am deeply focus on doing it well.

What bands/artists have you been listening to over the last couple of months?

My bad, I only have the radio on for my kids in the car so I do not really remember names of artists.

So, what do you think you’ve learnt the most from being a band through COVID-19?

Taking the opportunity to work deeper in certain skills. The possibility to explore new ways of creativity.

What kind of effect do you think that it’s had on the music industry all together, and how excited are you to see it return to normal?

I don’t know what to think about this question. I hope it will go on a good evolution; fresh ideas.

What tips/advice would you like to give to other bands who are also going through this?

Stay creative and explore yourself, you will be amazed!
