Interview: Fox Violet

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

I’m actually working on a brand new untitled EP/album right now. It is a very special group of songs that I have written, and produced and it’s really digging into areas I was shying away from before, looking at the unconscious narrative we tell ourselves so I’m really excited. The last songs that came out were singles, Not Another Memory, and I’ll take your pain.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

I recently fell in love with open tuning and its like a light went off and I wrote all these songs in a haze over about 10 days. These songs will be accompanied by three short films I am writing, shooting and directing myself, as well as an art project later in the year. It’s really a giant whisper into the void. I wanted to create work that was visual , visceral, and stretched the boundaries as far as I could and to me that means visual art too.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Chelsea Wolfe. I love Chelsea Wolfe for her mystic darkness, and I really feel I could create a song deeply embedded in her style. She rips your heart out and at the same time soothes your broken soul!

How has your latest release been received?

I’ve been really happy with it being played on the radio across the country, in the UK and also Australia so no complaints!

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

The last track, Not Another Memory, exposes the grit behind what it means to be a survivor, the wounds exposed by this, and the feeling of being a lone wolf embedded into a dream land.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

Sadly nothing until Covid is gone/a vaccine is available.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

The bowery ballroom in NYC is on my list I LOVE that place and it would be a massive honor to play there.

What else can we expect from in 2020?

Tons of teasers for the new record and one or maybe two singles, plus lots of collaboration projects with some talented artists that I have been working with.
