Interview: Ugly Clinic

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

Very well, as far as we can see – it’s amazing the reach that digital distribution can give you.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

We get the most plays and streams in New York, for some reason.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

The Damned. Five decades in the music business and they’re still going strong. They must be doing something right!

How has your latest release been received?

Our new single ‘’Hot Knife’’ is a bit different from our previous two singles, ‘’Just So You Know’’ and ‘’PS Tequila’’ – it’s more of a slow builder which gives Chloe’s vocal performance more of a chance to shine rather than being an all-out pedal-to-the-metal blast, so we were a bit worried that people who liked the first two wouldn’t be into it. But we needn’t have worried, the response has been positive.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

‘’Hot Knife’’ is about someone guitarist Pete the Riff once knew who did too much, too soon, and always took things a little bit too far!

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

Unfortunately, all that sort of thing is on hold at the moment. All we can do is sit at home and write new songs.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

If this is a wish list question, then Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colarado. Just because it’s unlike any other venue. I’ve wanted to play there ever since I saw the concert film U2 made there back in 1983.

What else can we expect from in 2020?

We hope to record our second album this year. As we’ve all been sitting around unable to rehearse or play live, we’ve got a huge amount of new songs stored up.
