Interview: Avalanche

Avalanche formed in March 2018 playing in an old steel factory after hours, joined by their mutual love for the Australian rock scene playing covers of AC/DC, Rose Tattoo and Stevie Wright, they soon found their sound and started hitting the local pub scene with a set-list of blistering original material, often playing 1-2 shows a week.

They were greeted to a widespread positive response from both young and old alike, and since they’re 2 official single releases last year, have seen a growing list of followers, radio play and several thousand views across social media. They’ve undergone a successful single release tour for Balls Deep, had over 2k views for the music video for Head first in Hell, and had spots on both national and international radio shows and online podcasts.

May 1st saw the release of their debut Double EP, Avalanche, Sent From Hell, a wild and raw rock n’ roll debut, with a combination of 4 studio recordings, and 4 multi-track live recordings, to showcase the best of the band both on stage and off.

Avalanche continue at a pace that shows no sign of slowing down. Professional, reliable and hardworking, they would love any and all opportunities that come their way. Check out the latest double EP below!

We caught up with the band as they talked about their latest release and more!

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

Steven Campbell (lead vocals/bass): So far the response has been really good, we’ve had a great response on Spotify and digitally and even sold quite a few physical copies through gigs.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

Our guitarist Veronica, actually recorded both rhythm and lead guitar tracks.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Airbourne because they fucking rock and we play a pretty similar form of fast-paced, bare bones hard rock so we could probably come up with something pretty cool.

How has your latest single been received?

😁

Balls Deep was the single from our EP, it was received pretty well, it’s gotten heaps of radio play and has been requested a lot, especially for encores. I don’t know man, it just seems like people are pretty amused and surprised by a song called balls deep, seems to be the crowd favourite

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

Take a guess.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

We’re touring around Sydney over the next few months to promote the EP, beyond that we are planning to take our show to Melbourne towards the end of the year, but more details to come soon…

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

Probably Frankies Pizza, we’ve been wanting to play there for a while just been waiting for our drummer Ryan to turn 18 in November haha.

What else can we expect from in 2019?

We’ll be gigging non-stop all over Sydney over the next few months to promote the EP, we’ve been booked out from the beginning d May until the end of July and are constantly booking more shows and working as hard as possible to make em our best shows yet. We’re working very hard with several promotion companies and advertisers as well to just push this EP as far as it can go. Veronica just bought a beautiful new Gibson SG as well, she has 2 now, as well as a Marshall JCM2000 stack that she got last year that she can wait to play the shit out off live. So if you’re in Sydney anytime soon, be sure to come along! If not, you can listen to the EP on Spotify and all other streaming services. Apart from that, our main goal for the next year is to play a major festival here in Australia, and apart from that we’re already working on a new release for towards the end of the year, and a tour! So stay tuned, there’s lots more coming from us.
