Interview: She Was Nothing talk latest single

The project She Was Nothing arose during spring 2008 with the aim to create a band with an innovative sound, able to mix alternative rock with electronic stuff. The first promo (self-titled) was recorded in the autumn 2008 and even if it has collected some good feedbacks the band was not completely satisfied by the result and, after a line-up change, started to work hard trying to get a sound as personal as possible and promoting itself through an intense live activity. In autumn 2009 after a year from the first release the band dropped “Proudly Guilty”, a promotional single that contains almost every feature of the style the band was searching for, a synthesis of the first full length “Dancing Through Shadows” that was going to be recorded during spring 2011. A mix of rock, metal, trance, dance, D’n’B and symphonic stuff created in over a year’s work. The album, that received excellent reviews from the most popular italian webzines like metalitalia.com, it’s been promoted with the video of “Right In The Night”, a cover of the Jam & Spoon 90’s dance duo, and through many live shows across the north of Italy.

After that the band went through several line up changes that destabilized the entire project and stopped its live activity to focuses on new material. Finally, 5 years from the realese of “DTS”, “Reboot” has come, a 12 track full lenght of rock with a D’n’B backbone entirely produced by the band. The album has been mixed by Alessandro Bavo (Subsonica, Linea 77, Punkreas, Levante, Velvet) and mastered by Andrea De Bernardi at Eleven Studio and it will be downloadable from the best digital music store by the first of march 2017.

In November 2018 SWN released a new videoclip for the single “#4oak. Now the band is working on a new album.

We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about their latest single and more!

So how has the release of #4oak gone down with fans so far?

People really enjoy the song, we had some good feedbacks for now! The rock vibe has been appreciated even by the “older” fans who loved “Dancing through shadows”

Can you tell something about the single no one else knows?

The entire song it’s a hymn to never give up, especially if you believe in what you’re doing! For the video we can say that shooting with the masks it’s been totally crazy 🙂
What was your favourite moment making this song?

For sure writing the synth part on the outro…. It’s rad
So what’s next for you?

Will you be releasing an album or EP anytime soon?

We’re thinking about it! We are collecting some ideas and probably we’re releasing at least a couple of new songs by the end of the year

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Not an easy question… Probably a band with a different sound and from a different genre like “Destrage”. They’re our friends and in the past we shared the stage a few times, Paul has a crazy voice!
Will you be touring at all this year?

We’re actually giving the final touches to the live set and yes, we’re gonna play live for sure but for now we do not have any “tour” in program
If you could play at any venue, where would it be and why?

There is no place in particular, any venue is good if there’s the right crowd!

What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?

Believe it or not music fills our “free time” entirely but we’re happy with that, it’s all about passion
