High Rise is a five-piece metal band from South West London, came together in 2014 through their mutual love of Hardcore. (For fans of Underoath, The Ghost Inside and A Day to Remember). Following on from the success of their 2015 debut EP ‘Tides Will Take You’, and their subsequent release ‘Left It For Everything’ in 2016, recorded with Dan Kerr at Avenue Studios (Our Hollow Our Home, Shields, Create to Inspire), The band have shared stages with a host of artists including Bad Omens, Our Hollow, Our Home, Create to Inspire, as well as playing at Teddy Rocks Festival.
Upcoming EP ‘Endeavours’ (out on 29th March) was engineered, mixed and mastered by Oz Craggs(Feed The Rhino, NECK DEEP, Mallory Knox) at Hidden Track Studios in Folkstone, Kent. Hi-octane, impassioned and blistering with huge choruses; ‘Endeavours’ sees the band meticulously sharpen their songwriting blade and hone their abilities to combine pulverising, breakneck riffs with life-affirming, anthemic vocal melodies cut with venomous screams.

How pumped are you for the release of your EP Endeavours?
In one word. Ecstatic. We’ve learnt so much on the journey to the release of Endeavours. It’s exciting to finally get to show the development of High Rise to everyone.
What is your favourite track on the EP?
Jovic: My favourite track is “Endeavours” – It’s the one that’s most personal to me. It takes me back to a time when I was in a bad place. I basically did whatever I wanted and took the piss with friends and family that cared for me. It wasn’t until I alienated myself from everyone that I realised what I had lost. I had to make up for what I had done, change my ways and better myself. I suppose I’m lucky in many respects that people forgave me. This whole thing showed me the power of forgiveness and treating everyone fairly.
How was recording the EP in Hidden Track Studios?
It was amazing. We were excited to work with the guy (Oz Craggs) who’s recorded many of favourite albums over the years and what he’s helped create is more than we imagined.
How was it working with Oz Craggs on this EP?
Oz is an absolute pleasure to work with. He’ll make you sound the best you’ve ever sounded whilst entertaining you with his many stories. He will throw out ideas and say “Let’s try it… If you don’t like it that’s fine, we will go with the original plan.” He’s got a gift for knowing what your sound is and how to capture that on a recording.
Would you say that this release is your most professional release to date production wise?
100% yes. Not just for the production, but musically we feel this is our best work so far. We are so happy with the response to the first single “My Solitude, Your Hope” and hope this continues.
How is this different to your last EP ‘Left It For Everything?
With this EP we have perfected and honed our style whilst managing to keep the dynamics we had with Left It For Everything. The EP shows a more mature side to us and our song writing and this shows in the subject matter of each track. We are truly proud of how far we’ve come as a band.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Jovic: For me it’s Architects, and I think a lot of the guys would agree. Even after the sad loss of Tom Searle they continue to write some of the most powerful and emotional songs around. A few of us caught them at Wembley Arena on their most recent tour and it absolutely blew me away. I’d love to be able to go through the whole writing process with them and try to put a bit of my spin on some of the vocals.
Have you got any tours or festivals lined up for 2019?
We have a few festivals on that cards that are yet to be announced and are always booking shows and tours around the country. All we can say is watch this space and make sure to come along when we’re in a town near you.
Be sure to check out High Rise at their EP release show on 30th March at The Fighting Cocks, Kingston.
