Interview: SkyFlood talk latest single

Based in Northamptonshire, Skyflood formed in 2017 and immediately released their debut single: Flawless, to an overwhelmingly positive response.

Since then they have really hit their stride with the follow up single: Destiny, which has already gained the band significant attention from BBC Introducing.

2019 looks to be an extremely positive year for the band as from April they will start gigging again and are planning to release more singles and continue their success. Check out latest single Destiny below!

Consisting of Craig on vocals/piano/guitar, Oli on lead guitar/backing vocals, Rob bass/backing vocals and Lewis on drums, we caught up with one half of the band as they talked about their latest single and more!

So how has the release of your single Destiny gone down so far?
Craig

It’s been amazing, we’ve had so much great feedback and interaction with our fans cause of it, we can’t wait to play it live at our first gig of the year in April.

How is it being recognised by the likes of BBC introducing?
Oli

Being played on the BBC is amazing because everyone knows what it is and everyone has the chance to hear what you’ve been working on for the past few months. Having your track broadcast alongside a wide range of talented artists is such a good feeling

Craig

Yeah it’s a brilliant feeling to be honest, Lal Muttock who hosts the show in Northampton is absolutely amazing with all the artists on the show and he invited us for an interview a week before the release of Destiny and said some very nice things about us.

Will you be releasing an album or EP this year?
Craig

We was going to release an EP but decided to stick with singles for the time being as each single you can focus more on each one and it’s a little bit easier to promote one at a time and give it maximum attention

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Craig

I think Muse, everyone in the band has a soft spot for them and with the way 1 or 2 of our tracks sound we would definitely suit that style but on a local level probably Sarpa Salpa, those guys are great

Have you got any festivals lined up this year?
Craig

We’re currently in the middle of booking shows and we start playing again in April in Northampton but as soon we get them booked and confirmed everyone will know via social media

What’s the music scene like in Northampton at the moment?

Craig

There are some AMAZING bands coming through Northants at the moment, there’s Sarpa Salpa, King Purple, Baby Lung, The Keepers, The Barrats and many more. We all support each other too which is nice

What do you all get up to when not working on music?

Craig

We mostly do stuff for the band when we’re not making music, Oli looks at ways we can replicate Queen, Lewis designs the costumes, Rob spreads the joy and I just dress as Batman
