Interview: The Rah’s talk latest single

The Rah’s are a talented Indie-Alt five-piece who draw their music inspirations from Jimi Hendrix to Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, The Clash to Royal Blood, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The band was originally formed in 2011 by Jack McLeod, Jordan McIntyre, Neale Gray and Andrew McLeod, and in 2017, the Prestopans/Edinburgh, UK-based outfit added Lee Brown to the lineup. The Rah’s are known for their energetic rock style and incredible live show, having supported and/or sharing the stage with The Fratellis, The View, The Rifles, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, The Hoosiers, Chris Helme, Steve Diggle (Buzzcocks), Callum Beattie and many more. They also recently took the stage at this year’s XpoNorth festival which took place in Inverness, Scotland. After years of exploring new sounds and their very own song revolution, they have created an in your face, straight up Rock & Roll gem with Survival. Check out Survival below!

We caught up with The Rah’s as they talk about their latest track and more!

How has the initial response been for Survival?

Superb to be honest! Radio plays all over the world including KROQ in LA which was surreal.

What inspired you to write this track?

Not any particular moment was just a gathering of thoughts with current world affairs, was well worked on when in the studio and changed quite a bit from the original track but we were happy with the outcome.

Can you tell us something about the track no one else knows?

It was pretty much a spur of the moment guitar riff that wasn’t planned when in the studio and we just worked away on it to create what it is now.

Will you be releasing EP/Album this year?

We are going to continue releasing singles and take it from there.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets cos their name is a belter and they are trippers!

What’s the music scene like in Prestonpans at the moment?

Not much of a music scene here, more function type bands that float about town. For a decent scene of upcoming bands you’ll need to head to Edinburgh/Glasgow.

What do you get up to in your spare time when not working on music?

For the last couple of months I’ve just been working away in my new house, laying decking, digging holes, fitting lights… proper rock n roll stuff!

Will you be touring at this year?

We will be for sure, we will be releasing more new music very soon so I’m sure a bundle of gigs will follow.
