EP Review: Orchards – Losers/Lovers

Brighton based band Orchards release their latest E.P the Alt-pop heavy ‘Losers/Lovers. Opening cut and lead single ‘Luv You 2’ fires out of the gate with a balloon bursting chorus that is sure to be an alternative chart favourite. Next up is the slightly deeper ‘Drama King’ which has a wistful summertime wheat chewing beat while ‘Be Here’ hopscotches along a Glastonbury bound pavement. ‘Double Vision’ has a light dusting of Indie to compliment the tongue skipping flying saucer sherbet of a song. The festival vibe carries on with the eyes closed, hands in the air, having a hangover moment ‘Age Of You’ before ‘Peggy’ monkeys around the Arctic. Penultimate track ‘Honey’ goes for the stop-start, grazed knee, reverse brake sound while final track ‘Darling’ has a bass heartbeat intro before flowering into a semi-anthemic dark Pop-shot. Losers/Lovers is the perfect blue sky, lazy Sunday session musical accompaniment.
