EP Review: Dissonants – Vultures

Southampton Rock/Hardcore band DISSONANTS debut E.P ‘Vultures’ gives the classic Heavy Metal sound another modern bone picking makeover. Title track ‘Vultures’ swings between the Rock genres like Tarzan on Angel Dust. Death Metal drums, a keyboard break, Maiden riff and singing that goes from high note holding to the hellish growl that slips the knot of conformity. The plethora of styles is at times confusing but rarely dull. ‘Exhale’ is where it all joins seamlessly together. This jabbing track incorporates Captain Caveman and Bennington-esque vocals as well as a foot pumping core of discerning Metal. Next up is the melodic neck snapping ‘Follow’ which has an “everyone in the pool” cocktail taste. The Bloodstock, “horns In the air, motherfuckers” burnt offerings of ‘Chambers’ ricochets across the Rock continent before the blistering closing cut ‘If It Takes Forever, I’ll Walk Forever’ motors into the mouth of Satan’s mistress. A refreshing E.P worthy of any Rock/Metal/Death/Speed/Melodic/Modern musical moniker.
