Album Review: Trophy Jump – Depression Club

Zagreb Skate Punks Trophy Jump release the Bolshoi bouncing ‘Depression Club’. The simplistic title track resonates like early Offspring before ‘Sympathy For Kevin’ lyrically resists a gay pass and the tune is pure 90’s American Punk. A snare splitting ‘CTR’ is followed by slightly more melodic ‘Noob’ which has hints and sprinkles of Brit punks Whitmore. The blistering ‘Wake Up Fool’ flashes by in a blur of shouty vocals while ‘Aprils Fools Day’ and ‘16 Again’ have the stop, start commodity in spades. ‘Beyblade’ is as close to Punk-Pop (almost) instrumental perfection as you can get before album closer ‘Trophy Jump’ ensures a place on the podium.
