After their critically acclaimed debut Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns, Swedish symphonic extreme metal prodigy Zornheym are currently embarking on part one of their European Tour.
Based in Stockholm, Symphonic Extreme metal band Zornheym was founded and led by multi-instrumental mastermind and songwriter Zorn. After parting ways with his former band Dark Funeral, he was determined to shake up the traditional Metal meets Symphony approach with his new band Zornheym.
Zornheym quickly grew from an ambitious idea into a dramatic musical and cinematic narrative revolving around the horrors of a mental institution and its prisoners. The debut album Where Hatred Dwells And Darkness Reigns received a thundering ovation worldwide because of its majestic sound and exhilarating concept. It is a further step towards the Abyss, taking every element to the extreme: a darker, heavier and far more intense monument than ever before. A prime example of frightening savagery, amazing musical execution, and excellent songwriting.

We managed to catch up with Zorn as he talked about the latest tour and more!
So how has the first leg of your tour gone down so far?
Zorn: It has been a great experience for us so far and each show just gets better and better! We are having a great time with GHUSA as well!
What has been your favourite venue?
Zorn: I honestly don’t think I can answer that one fairly because every place has had something awesome about it. You might want to ask me again after the tour!
What places are you looking forward to visiting the most for the rest of the tour?
Zorn: I think both the Netherlands and Belgium are going to be great. Both countries are always great with large metal communities! The Netherlands’ show will be special for us since we will be meeting our record label in person for the first time!
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Zorn: I guess I would want to work with Marty Friedman, just to try and grasp his way of thinking a little bit better, but I’m not sure how the song would turn out haha, pretty insane I’d say!
What’s the alternative scene like in Stockholm?
Zorn: I think the scene is thriving. There seems to be a lot of shows. I don’t really go out that much at home so I’m not really a big part of it.
Are you looking forward to releasing your album Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns on Vinyl?

Is Vinyl slowly becoming popular again in Sweden?
Zorn: I think the format is slowly coming back, even though cd sales are still higher. A lot of labels are re-releasing albums on vinyl now, which I think is great! We actually passed by a store in Germany today that had vinyl players displayed in the window.
Will you be releasing new music this year?
Zorn: Not this year, we still need to promote our first album.
What do you get up to in your spare when not working on music?
Zorn: I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and my son, traveling, going to the theatre or the cinema, and just watching a good series. There’s a great forest area near me so I like taking walks there to get inspiration and solitude.
