Interview: Limberlost talk latest single

Limberlost is a Female fronted Power Rock band from the Pacific Northwest!! There goals are simple and straight! Write and produce great songs with Powerful Vocals , Meaningful lyrics, Addictive Hooks, Edgy Guitars and Tenacious Grooves! Songs that translate from studio to stage! Songs that represent the soul of the band! Formed in late 2010, original members, guitarist Ricky Dunn and drummer Mike Burt started to form a vision and create the foundation of the bands mission. Along with a lot of song ideas… Thin Clouds was born among them but it just wasn’t clicking. 2013 enter vocalist Krystle Pyette and the tumblers all fell into place. She was the power punch and collaborator the songs needed! These three together generate a very rare song writing chemistry. 2016 the band was complete with addition of Bassist Ben Beman who brought an instant lockdown to the Rhythm Section and a versatility that is allowing the band to explore new horizons. In Late 2016 after several single releases working with producer David Smith from Crash Bang Booom Productions, the band hit the ground running! Keep your eyes and ears open! New songs and shows always in the works!

2017 was the band’s first official year out performing and boy did they. Mixing live rooms and festivals Limberlost has quickly become a local favorite moving from opener to headliner. They also took second in the 2017 Puget Sound Battle of the Bands hosted by The Muckleshoot Casino, Kzok FM and Jack FM helping to set an all-time attendance record for that event and was also a Finalist in the 105.3FM Local Music Project. In July, Limberlost added a new piece to the puzzle. Cirke Cherokee, a finalist in a recent Danish XFactor has joined the team to provide an incredible back ground vocal punch to Krystle’s already amazing power.

Cut in the groove of the history of Classic Rock and Roll and powerful vocalists from the Pacific Northwest, Limberlost will leave you humming their hooks and searching their schedule to see where you can find them next.

Limberlost is Krystle Pyette on vocals, Cirke Cherokee on backing vocals, Ricky Dunn on guitar, Ben Beman on bass and Mike Burt and on drums.

The band’s new track Long Shadows is an up tempo rock song about facing down and overcoming depression and addictions (the Long Shadows). It came from the personal journey of our lead vocalist as she battled through her own bout depression a while back.

Check out Limberlost’s latest single Long Shadows below!

We caught up with the band as they talked about their latest single, depression and more!

How has the initial release of Long Shadows gone?

It has went really well! We actually play our songs live a bit before we hit the studio with them, so the local folks had heard and seen it a few times. But the live launch of the studio recording, by producer engineer, David Smith from Crash Bang Booom Productions has had a great reception on many of our internet radio networks we connect with around the globe as well as our local FM station KGRG 89.9.

Can you tell us something about the track nobody knows?

Sure! As some of our fans know, we were recently joined by the insanely talented Cirke Hall-Cherokee from Denmark and an Xfactor Finalist as our backing vocalist. This is our first single
with our full current lineup Krystle, Ricky, Ben, Cirke, Ray and myself, all on the recording. Another tidbit that our local fan base has witnessed but rest of the world doesn’t know is that there is also a version that may be released in the fall that has a bridge that one of our friends and local Hip Hop recording artist Mr. Von throws down a serious Rap on. Last but not least, the cover art is our first collaboration with an artist outside of the US. Lesley Oldaker , an artist from Switzerland who frequents your neck of the woods in the UK. Her painting “Among Strangers” provided the perfect mood to present the song! Check her out! www.lesleyoldakerfineart.com . That was like 3 things but who’s counting…

How much does the single mean to you all?

A lot! Listen all of our songs are intentional and have meaning beyond the hooks to us. Several of us in the band write so we get a very cool mosaic of topics and meanings. This particular song’s lyrics were penned by our lead vocalist Krystle Pyette over a set of riffs our guitarist Ricky Dunn and I had been jamming on for a few years. Long Shadows is an up tempo Rock song about facing down and overcoming depression and addictions (the Long Shadows). That we inherently have it built within us to not give in or give up. It came from Krystle’s personal journey as she battled through her own bout with depression a while back. However, we find it very relevant as we watch so many suicides and overdoses around us.

Is depression something you think should be more talked about?

Yes! Absolutely!! I mean from my perspective? The only time we talk about it is when it has won and claimed another life or in drug ads. But that’s not enough obviously. There’s a line in our song Babylon that says “we sift through the pills but we can’t find the cure”. In Long Shadows we are hoping to send a message that you can win! That you were created to live and overcome and reach into the lives of others in a positive and supportive way. That the only cure is Love! Love yourself, Love each other and the Love of a Loving God. When the light is all around you, the Long Shadows will disappear. And with that being said, if anyone out there that’s reading this is struggling hard, the last thing you need is a musician on his soapbox. If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Led Zeppelin…..next question ha ha!! No seriously ask me another question….
Would you ever consider touring the UK?
Can we flop at your place? Yes! We would love that! As things progress for us that is definitely on our radar.
What’s the alternative scene like in Pacific Northwest?
Crazy Good!! I mean the amount of not only talent but ground breaking talent that has come out of this area is insane. We get to stand on incredible shoulders for sure. It can ebb and flow, but it never stops. The sense of community amongst artist is really something that I can’t explain but it is super cool to be apart of. If I had to answer you in a word? “Family”

If you could play at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

Just one? I’ll give you two. #1 Madison Square Garden because if you’re good enough to play there, you can play anywhere! #2 and just because I saw show a bit ago of the Foo Fighters playing there and it was sooo cool! The Acropolis! I don’t even know how many people you can get in there, it just looked badass!!

What was the first gig you all attended?

You mean as a youngster or the first gig we played as a band? Wow all I’m gonna say personally is you probably weren’t born for the first answer and it involved Neil Schon and Ronnie Montrose doing a blues jam! Happy Googleing…. As a band our very first show was September 24 2016 in Fife, Washington, USA at an awesome venue called Louie G’s Pizza! If you hit our website www.limberlostmusic.com and also our socials, you will see that we play there on a regular basis. Great venue! Great Folks!
