Melbourne based band Earth Caller are set to release their upcoming album Crystal Death on 19th January via eOne as they look to take the hardcore and metalcore scene by storm in 2018. Since the start, the five-piece have toured rigorously and earned themselves a reputation for being one of the most energising live acts in Australia.
Their debut release Degenerate, which the band released independently in 2015, charted at #6 on the AIR Charts and also found it’s way onto national television, radio and magazines both in Australia and overseas. Since then the boys have signed a recording contract with US major label giants eOne and with the release of their highly anticipated Sophomore record just around the corner the up and coming Melbourne heavy hitters are showing no signs of slowing down. The band recently released Fall from their upcoming album – check it out below!
We managed to catch up with lead singer Josh Collard as he talked about the upcoming release and more!
So how pumped are you for the release of Crystal Death?
Extremely. It’s been 2 years since we put out new music and we’re very proud of the body of work we’ve created.
What is your favourite track from this album?
My personal favourite would have to be Never In Never Around.
Can you tell us something about the album that nobody knows?
Lyrically this album is the most real and honest body of work that I’ve ever made. I really wrote from my heart and in doing so I was able to end a cycle of substance abuse that I’d been living through since I was 17.
How has the release of Fall gone down with fans?
Really great. If you look at the posts on the YouTube/Facebook comments you’ll see it has almost 100% positive feedback.
Also when we play it live it really goes off. We’re stoked our fans are digging it.
If you could work with any band or artist on a new song, who would it be and why?
There are literally so many artists I’d love to work with. Maybe Lynn Gunn from PVRIS though, I really love her voice and it would be a huge honour to sing with her.
Will you be touring at all in 2018?
Hell yes. We’ve just gotten done booking our first Aussie tour and we’re making progress with some international stuff. Stay tuned.
If you could play at any festival in the world, where would it be and why?
Either download in the UK or Impericon. All the European festivals look so dope.
What’s the alternative music scene like in Melbourne?
The music scene in Melbourne is incredible. So many dope bands and venues that you really feel spoiled for choice every weekend.
Also, I’ve noticed that Australia has really started to get respect on the world stage musically which makes me really happy as I believe the quality of our artists truly deserve respect worldwide.
What was the first gig you all first attended?
My first gig was back in 2004. Atreyu, Norma Jean & Unearth at the corner hotel. It was amazing and definitely made me feel so intoxicated by heavy music that I knew I wanted to be a part of it forever. Unearth were definitely the standout for me that day.
