Interview: Silence The Radio talk new music video

Coming together in early 2015, Silence the Radio was formed as a counteract to the metal and easycore scene of Providence, Rhode Island. Wanting to revive and revamp the timeless sounds of mid 2000s pop punk and alternative music, Jack Petit, Brandon Teh and Josh Nardine began the writing process for their debut EP If It Helps You See. Not long after, the group teamed up with Chris Piquette of No Boundaries Studios to complete the recording process of their hard hitting first album. With the release of their first EP, Silence the Radio found a connection with the New England local scene by offering their unique, yet familiar sound as a callback to days of power chords and unforgettable anthem choruses. Playing regularly in the Providence and Massachusetts area, they began to build a dedicated fan base, headlining shows in their hometown of Providence to packed venues, and providing direct support for national acts such as MAKEOUT (formerly Trophy Wives), Carousel Kings, Knockout Kid and countless others. Along the way, they’ve secured endorsements with companies such as Black Market Custom (All Time Low, Issues, Four Year Strong, etc.) and Voiceless Clothing.

Following the release of their theatrical single, Knock Me Out in the fall of 2016, and the addition of guitarist Thom O’ Rourke, Silence the Radio has completed the recording process of their sophomore EP.  Now the band have released the music video for title track of the EP Friendly Neighborhood Nightmare (out today) which you can check out below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about the latest music video, new EP and more!

So how has the video for Friendly Neighborhood Nightmare gone so far?

It’s been great! The support we’ve gotten so far has been awesome and we can’t wait to release more.

Tell us something about the video nobody knows?
Let’s just say that the story doesn’t end yet.

What was your favourite moment recording the video?

Getting together with all of our friends and making something we’re all proud of!

So this is the title of your upcoming EP. can you tell us more about this?

The title of our new EP definitely best represents the overarching theme of the whole album. You’ll have to listen to find out why! “Friendly Neighborhood Nightmares” comes out December 1st on iTunes and Spotify.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Probably SWMRS. We’re all big fans.

What’s the alternative scene like in Rhode Island?

It’s unique and very tight knit. There are so many great bands who play out of RI.

If you could play at any venue you in the world, where would it be?
Anywhere with an open bar.

Will you be touring at all this year or 2018?

We will be touring in 2018!

What was the first gig you all first attended?
Jack: Paramore
Brandon: Green Day
Josh: Jonas Brothers
Thom: Green Day
