Interview: Go Primitive talk latest video

Go Primitive

High-octane, hard-rockers Go Primitive recently released the video for their new single I Want More.

The band channel a hard rock sound with big hooks, riffs and solos fuelled with attitude and drive. They have worked with respected rock/metal/pop producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, Funeral For A Friend, Motorhead) on the new track as well as their upcoming debut album Choices which is due early next year.
They’ve enjoyed support from the likes of Radio 1, Kerrang! Radio and Scuzz TV and have shared stages with some top bands such as Mallory Knox, Fort Hope, Lonely The Brave, Terrorvision and more, they even played to a packed out tent at Glastonbury Festival last year. They recently finished their UK tour Seasons and Scout Killers. We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about their latest single, latest tour and more!

So how has the video for I Want More gone so far?

It’s been amazing so far! To get a premier from Metal Hammer too which was incredible. This is the first single that kicks off our album campaign, so it’s built up that starting momentum nicely!

Tell us something about the video no one knows

Well both Teale and Adam actually work for LifeisArtVisuals who shot it, so they were pulling the double shift, playing and working! Also Luke our merch guy was the man in the hood.

What’s it liked to be supported by the likes of Radio 1 and Scuzz TV?

Again it’s incredible, to see one of our music videos played alongside some of our favourite bands on national TV was one of those little “tick” moments as an up and coming band! Radio 1 was also one of those moments, from just playing the biggest show of our career to date at Glastonbury Festival to have Radio 1 broadcast our music as a result was insane!

How was your recent tour?

This tour has actually been one of the best! We played to busy rooms every single night, sold a ton of merch, and had an absolute blast out on the road.

What was your favourite venue to play at?

It has to be the Zephyr Lounge in Leamington Spa! It’s pretty much our “home town” show, it was a fantastic turnout even though we were against Reading Festival and people away for the bank holiday. It was a super fun and sweaty gig!

Are you good friends with the guys at Seasons and Scout Killers?

Well we are now! We didn’t know the guys before meeting on this tour, but what better way to make friends than sharing the stage. Both bands were awesome, personalities and music alike!

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Tomm – Paramore… Because I’d like to duet with Hayley Williams 😉
Teale – Rag N Bone Man, I was a massive fan before he got massively popular. This guy has a phenomenal and soulful voice which I think would sound amazing in a Hip Hop / Go Primitive style Rock hybrid!
Andy – Richie Kotzen, currently my favourite musician. It would be inspiring to be involved in any writing with him, his soulful and funky / bluesy prowess on the guitar would be extremely exciting for me!
Adam – Biffy Clyro, because I am a massive fan boy, but also their sound has evolved from album to album becoming more poppy, yet more random while still sounding themselves. I’d love to be able to push our boundaries like that!

Will there be an album or EP released this year?

There will be another single release in November, then our debut full length album will be out around February 2018.

What was the first gig you guys ever attended?
Tomm – Bon Jovi at Millennium Stadium Cardiff in 1999
Teale – Deep Purple & Lynyrd Skynyrd at the NEC Birmingham in 2003
Andy – Status Quo at the NEC Birmingham in 2005
Adam – Tom Jones at the Warwick Castle in 1998
