New Jersey band Meeko Brando recently released their EP Lemonade Lemonade The EP was recorded at Aurora Studios in Lambertville, NJ and Inner Ear Studios in Arlington,VA.

Meeko Brando is: Anthony Carbone, Joe Ewaskiewicz, Jim McGee, Jaime Parker and Scott Silvester.

The band describe themselves as a uniquely sound and you can certainly see this with their current EP which you can check out below!

We managed to catch up with the band as they talk about the latest EP and more!

How has the release of Lemonade Lemonade gone so far?

Jim: It’s been generating a lot of positive feedback, so I’m curious to see where it takes us as a band.

Joe: Yeah, so far really good. People have had a very strong and positive reaction to the whole thing. The best part is that the compliments have come from fans of all sorts of genres which is excellent to connect with people of all walks without pigeonholing ourselves. We want to feel like we can do anything we want without being tied down to anything. Pushing ourselves with different angles and experimentation are essential or I don’t think we would be doing all this right now.

Can you tell us anything about the EP?

Joe: Lemonade Lemonade was released on May 19, 2017 as a digital only release with physical versions to be released in the very near future.

What is your favourite track from the release?

Jaime: While I like them all for different reasons, my personal favorite is Mako Sharko. I think that song is what it would feel like if you were in a car chase escaping a hurricane carrying a giant man-eating great white shark.

Jim: Ninety Eight. Everything just comes together with raw energy. I’m very proud of that track. Frank Lettieri (from Dust of Days) is a wizard in the studio. He has a way of drawing the best out of the people he records.

Joe: Well my (Joe) FAVORITE track is Ninety-8 if I had to choose one, but the strength of the EP is everyone in the band and those that have given it a good listen has stated favorites across the board. It may sound like a lazy answer, but I believe every song is solid enough to stand on its own, but also compliments the record as its whole.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Joe: Probably Hall in Oates or Peter Gabriel.

Jaime: Q and Not U because they are such a good band. I never got to see them before they disbanded. I’d like them to make more music and I want to witness their writing process and soak it all in.

Jim: I’ve been listening to Drab Majesty’s newest record ‘The Demonstration’ over and over- I would love to collaborate with Deb Demure. I feel like I would have written that record.

Scott: I’d love to give this EP to some electronic/dance/house artists for remix. It would also be cool to have access to a string quartet and see how we could twist that into a collaboration.

What’s the alternative scene like in New Jersey?

Jaime: New Jersey has these pockets of awesome little scenes that really do support each other. Trenton has a pretty tight-knit punk scene with a lot of touring bands coming through the Mill Hill Basement or Championship Bar. New Brunswick has all these super-cool basement shows where it’s highly likely you’ll get to see a new band that, in a few years will be headlining some big shows and you’ll get bragging rights that you saw their first show in a dirty yet glorious basement. The Asbury Park scene has also really been growing and turning out some fantastic bands. And then the best part is that each of these scenes is no more than an hour’s drive away, so you never have to go too far to get your dose of mind-blowing original music.

What was your funniest moment while recording the EP?

Scott: Not so much funny, but I was giddy when we got to record at the legendary Inner Ear in Arlington, VA. Fugazi, Q and not U, John Frusciante, Girls Against Boys all recorded there, and we got to actually work with Don Zientara. He produced and engineered some of the best albums of all time at Inner Ear. He even does claps on Sega Lemon!

Will there be even more new music this year?

All: Yes.

Are you on tour at all this year?

Joe: We are looking into this now. Talks of a Northeast American Tour have been discussed with details still being ironed out as we speak.

Jim: We welcome the opportunity.
