Interview: IDestroy talk latest music video

IDestroy have released the video for 98%, the second half of their double A-side single Annie and 98%.

Big bass lines and catchy choruses to match are the soundtrack to the lo-fi journey through the gritty scenes of the band’s Bristol hometown.

The video is the second instalment of their double A-side and follows the video for ‘Annie’ which premiered on Kerrang and mixes powerful riffs with catchy pop melodies in the short, sharp, feisty number, packed with driving rhythms and rebellious charm.

Fearless and more determined than ever, IDestroy have been unleashing new material to fans and have been touring the UK throughout April before heading off to Germany for a ten date tour which starts today. The band also won their hometown heat in Bristol at ‘The Pogues Irish Whiskey Presents: A Shot at Discovery’ competition, and recently performed at the final at Islington Academy.Check out the band’s new video below!

We managed to catch up with Bec, Becky and Jenn as they talked about the latest video and more!

How has the release of 98% been so far?

The reaction we’ve had from the fans has been great. Particularly our Bristol fans have enjoyed spotting all the cool locations where we shot the video. We’ve had the chance to be more creative with the music video this time.

Tell us a bit about the song

We had been playing the song live for about half a year. We realised It had become a particular highlight of the set for our fans so we decided to record it. Since we have released it, people have commented on how connected to the lyrics they feel.

How has your German tour gone so far?

The tour is going amazingly! We’re currently travelling from Leipzig to Berlin for our show this evening. Tonight is show number 7 with 12 dates in total. The mileometer on our van has just ticked over 2000 miles!

We have met some really cool people and interesting venues. We love how the Germans like to dance at gigs.

Do you find the music scene different in Germany than in the UK?

From the tour so far it seems like people are much more open to check out upcoming bands. The venues are also very supportive of new bands on the scene.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

I’d love Beth Ditto to guest vocal on a track with us. She is an inspiration to me with such a good attitude and vocal ability.

What was your first gig that you attended?

Bec; I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers play when I was 16. Jenn; I saw linkin park when I was 13. Becky; Me and my sister went to see Motörhead in Bristol when I was 14.

What do you get up to in your spare time?

When we get a few hours off on tour we like to explore and get a feel for the city. Yesterday in Leipzig we found a vegan cafe and enjoyed beer in the sun. We’re hoping to get to Berlin early today and check out the east side gallery.

Will there be new music this year?

Yes! We’ve got a few festival shows and various other shows scattered across the summer, but we’re going to hit the studio as soon as possible to record the next release…
