Drum Drum Dance Dance recently signed to Bearded Punk Records.  The band have had opening slots for the likes of Jeff RosenstockPale Angels and Apologies, i have none, a spot on Belgian National radio Studio Brussel’s contest finals ‘De Nieuwe Lichting 2017’ in what has been a successful time for them. The Belgium band self confessed ‘humanimals’ have number of festival this year including Summer In October festival this weekend in Nijen. They will also release their debut self titled EP at the event before going on tour with Spanish Love Songs in November.

Listen to Forty Man! from the band’s upcoming EP.

We managed to catch up with Bass Player Donkey Bong about the new EP,  Belgium music scene, fans and more!

When will the debut EP be released?

Our album will be for sale at our shows starting this Saturday at the Summer In October event. We already sold some copies to ourselves but I don’t think we can count that as an official release sale?

Have you got any ideas for a name of the EP?

The debut EP will be named after a very good band we know. Drum Drum Dance Dance. Those guys are the best, check em out!

What is the music scene like in Belgium?

There have been dark days for the punk, rock and general band scene in Belgium. Just like in the rest of the world, electronic music takes over. People pay 50 euro for waiting someone push buttons on his laptop but paying 12 euro for a festival with 14 bands is always to much for them. But this is changing, people are realizing that they are broke ass motherfuckers so they go back to the “cheap” scenes. The more underground bands are starting to get more popular. Especially the garage scene is getting a second life in Belgium.

Are you guys looking forward playing alongside Spanish Love Songs?

Yeah of course we are! They have a duck on there record, isn’t that enough reason to think these guys are amazing? No but for reals, this is a huge opportunity for us. Especially because we have only been playing shows for like 8 months or so.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing?

Personally I’m looking forward to Italy and Switzerland because I have never been there plus I’m kind of a pizza freak. So real Italian pizza is gonna be godlike I hope. And I have never been to Switzerland, they say it’s beautiful out there. Also In Germany we are going to play inside an old fortress so that one is also gonna be pretty cool. Back home in Belgium we are playing at this rad festival ‘Bearded Punk Fest’ that is organized by our tour manager so that’s gonna be awesome as well.

How much does your fans mean to you guys?

A lot! When we are rehearsing they cool us down very much, especially in the summer months it’s freakin’ hot in our rehearsal room because it’s pretty small and you generate a lot of heat when you’re playing sexy grooves. Oh, the people listening to our music you mean? They’re okay.

What inspires you to make music?

Our moms, general girlfriend stuff, things that happen to us in our daily lives and general randomness.

If you could work with any band, who would it be and why?

Wavves, because they have this very specific sound and vibe that I don’t recall in much bands.
