So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?
The response to One Life has honestly been incredible. It’s been really encouraging to see people connect with the message just as much as the music. I’ve had listeners reach out to tell me the song helped them through a difficult time, and that’s exactly why I wrote it. Numbers are great, but hearing that the song has made a real difference to someone means more than any stream count.
Tell us something about the release no one knows?
One thing people probably don’t know is that I rewrote parts of the lyrics several times because I wanted every word to feel genuine. I wasn’t interested in writing something that sounded dramatic for the sake of it. The message had to come from a real place, even if that meant taking longer to finish.
If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Alter Bridge would be at the top of my list. Mark Tremonti has been one of my biggest influences as both a guitarist and songwriter, and I think our styles would complement each other well. They have a way of writing heavy music that’s still emotional and melodic, and that’s always been something I’ve admired.
Can you tell us about the meaning behind the release?
One Life is about reminding people that we only get one chance at this life, so don’t spend it trying to live up to everyone else’s expectations. It also shines a light on men’s mental health, encouraging people to speak up instead of suffering in silence. If the song helps even one person realize they’re not alone, then it’s done exactly what I hoped it would.
What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?
There aren’t any tours planned at the moment. Right now my focus is on writing new music and continuing to build Dead Defined. When I do start playing live again, I want to make sure it’s something worth the wait.
What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?
Red Rocks Amphitheatre has always been a dream venue. The atmosphere, the scenery, and the history of the artists who’ve performed there make it one of the most iconic places in the world to play. Standing on that stage would definitely be a career highlight.
What else can we expect from you in 2026?
There’s plenty more music on the way. One Life is just the beginning of this next chapter for Dead Defined. I’m continuing to write, record, and connect with new listeners around the world, while keeping the focus on songs that have something meaningful to say. I’m excited for people to hear what’s next.
