Former Lÿnx Vocalist Devin Guindon Revisits “Hold Me Tonight” with Blade Baksi
Canadian singer Devin Guindon has teamed up once again with guitarist and songwriter Blade Baksi for a reimagined version of “Hold Me Tonight,” a fan-favourite track originally released by Canadian hair metal band Lÿnx on their self-titled EP in 2020.
Written by Devin Guindon and Blade Baksi over six years ago during Devin’s time as the frontman of Lÿnx, the original version of “Hold Me Tonight” quickly resonated with listeners thanks to its heartfelt lyrics and emotional ballad-driven atmosphere. Now, the duo have returned to the song with a completely fresh perspective, transforming it into an energetic late ’70s and early ’80s-inspired melodic rock anthem.
Released through Bullzhorn Records, “Hold Me Tonight (Reimagined)” keeps the emotional core of the original intact while introducing a brighter and more uplifting sonic identity. Drawing inspiration from legendary acts such as Loverboy, Cheap Trick, April Wine, and Boston, the track blends soaring electric guitars, vibrant synth layers, and punchy drums into a nostalgic yet modern production.
While much of the original lyrical content remains untouched, Devin revisited the song by adding new lines to the pre-chorus, helping breathe new life into the track while preserving the emotional connection that longtime listeners appreciated in the original release.
Speaking about revisiting the song, the collaboration reflects the strong personal connection both artists still share with “Hold Me Tonight.” Rather than recreating the emotional ballad version released with Lÿnx, the goal was to give the song a fresh identity that captured the uplifting and energetic spirit of classic melodic rock records from the late ’70s and early ’80s.
The result is a powerful reimagining that balances emotional depth with infectious hooks and feel-good energy, showcasing both Devin Guindon and Blade Baksi’s continued passion for timeless rock songwriting.
