When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?
Hy guys, Bad Love was a track composed by Enrico J. Goti (lead voice & guitar). It started only with music and Marco Plesnicar (bass) worked with Enrico to create the lyrics. The tracked evolved during rehearsals and assumed a prog like mood, with a dreamy introduction, a very powerful verse and a massive harmonic chorus and bridge. During the recording sessions it occurred to Marco to add a recited text to break the very long final crescendo and to Enrico the beautiful voice solo then improvised and performed by Sara Cova who then joined our band.
How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?
It’s a beautiful prog hard rock song. People who love reminiscences of 70s music brought to modern times will find themselves at home but listening to something completely different and original.
Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?
It is the celebration of nostalgia for a lost love that we try to fight and forget but assails us when we thought we had erased it forever.
How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?
The track is probably our favourite, the one that represents us the most compositionally because it brings together the different souls that inhabit us, despite being unique in the themes we address. We write about absurd and dystopian situations, but ultimately always profoundly human. This time we’ve given space to love, a theme we’re usually very reserved about.
What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?
I think the biggest challenge was keeping the track tense, interesting throughout, without sacrificing what we had originally set out to do. And the track is 7 minutes and 18 seconds long. Not exactly mainstream radio.
Why should a reader check out the track?
Because I think the intense emotions that motivated us are perceptible and I think the listener will be able to feel them.
What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?
The Track was recorded at Jork Studios, Slovenia’s most important recording studio, with Marco Bertoli on drums and Vincenzo Reina on backing vocals and guitar, whom we didn’t mention before. The single is also included on the Monkey Intrusion Album Pussycats and Monkeymen.
