Interview: Versa

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

That’s really for fans to say! We’ve had a lot of really positive feedback though, which has been lovely.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

The original lyrics to the song “Flew the Coop” were based on the classic webcomic “Wigu” by Jeffrey Rowland, and the song began, “I am a potato”. As much as I love Wigu, I think the current lyrics are stronger. Hollas still refers to the song in rehearsals as “The Potato Song”.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

It’s been a lifelong dream to work with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull – they’ve been my favourite band since I was a teenager and his music is a constant source of inspiration.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the release?

It’s hard to ascribe a singular meaning to a release like this, which compiles work from multiple projects written across fifteen years and recorded across four years. We hope listeners will find some meaning in it, though!

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

We are not a touring band. We do have a couple of local shows coming up, including a 20th anniversary show on June 14th we’ll be recording for a future release.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

Not really applicable as we are not a touring band.

What else can we expect from you in 2026?

Lots! We are releasing a covers album in May, local live/20th anniversary shows in June, re-master of our 2010 album “The Decline & Fall Of…” in July along with music videos for our songs “Bury Me at Sea” and “We Are Not What We Say We Are”, some live material to be released in the fall, and we’ll be doing the bulk of writing and recording for our next full length LP in 2026, with an eye to releasing it in 2027.
